When my members upload pictures through servimg, they come out being sideways. Is there a way to keep a photo taken vertically to upload vertically?

it might be they have to rotate it on the device them self then save it

Hello,

As Ape alluded to, if this picture was taken on a smart phone, if the phone was actually being held horizontal when the photo was taken, the phone will always try to rotate the screen when viewing the picture to make it appear right side up. Because of the screen rotating to accommodate the photo it gives the allusion that the photo is the 'right way' but on the actual file it is not. So when you view the picture (or upload it online) to a device which doesn't use screen rotation, the true orientation of the photo is going to be shown.

Luckily this is a simple fix in that all the user has to do is use the phone's basic editing tools to flip/rotate the picture until it is the right way, save it and then re-upload the image to the forum.

Coucou,

images when are uploaded on servimg keep the EXIF attributes (for example the orientation of the camera device).
Despite this, there is currently an ongoing ticket to investigate about this ( (#5020) photo problem with servimg: portrait -> landscape)

Maybe @Luzz can give you more information about the issue, and if it is exactly the same problem Wink

Hello,

Yes, we have now a ticket (in progress) concerning the upload of photos (and keeping of their orientation) on Servimg via the forum editor from mobile devices.

@Frank_Wx
Could you confirm please that the original orientation of the photos is horizontal and you are posting them from mobile device via the Forumotion message editor ? Normally, if you upload the same photo directly on Servimg page with your Servimg account, the upload should keep the orientation.

Could you please join your image here in attached file and give me the URL of the message on your forum (or even here) where the image is uploaded with wrong orientation ?

Thank you.
