For first go to yourforumurl/admin. For second, moderator shouldn't have acces to admin panel.

rd,
As Gassy said, try adding '/admin' (without quotes) to the end of your forum URL. As an admin, you should always have access to the admin panel. However, moderators don't have access.
Please don't double/triple post. Your post need to be separated by 24 hours before bumping, replying or adding more information. Please use the edit button instead. |

Thanks everyone. I am both an admin and a moderator. Both myself and the founder. But when we reactivated it today, I was able to log in and can't see the admin panel and the /admin says I don't have ability to access.
And the founder is unable to log into her account. She tried repeatedly and is now locked out for 90 minutes. Tried to have them reset her password and got the following response:
The security 'Disallow admin to send new password' is active in Admin Panel > General Admin > Security
We can't leave the forum open and unmoderated. There is no one to call or contact directly for help on this. Any suggestions?

Then it seems like the founder has removed you from the administrators group if you can't access the admin panel. If she's forgotten her password, please advise her to see this link: https://help.forumotion.com/t93821-lost-founder-s-password

That's great but she's not a member of this forum. So she'll have to register here and post twice before contacting folks to get her password? Why can't she do it directly on our forum?
BTW, she didn't remove me as an admin. Something's wrong with the forum now that it's reactivated.

Yep, she'll need to register on this forum. Should be no hassle, right? The reason why she can't do a password reset directly on your forum is because of the security feature that is in place which hasn't been disabled on your forum. And oh, okay.

Okay, thanks for your help. She'll go through the process and post twice here then. Do you know how long it will take to get a response to her password reset through PM here? Very concerned about leaving the board open and unmoderated. Our intention was just to send a goodbye email and shut it down immediately. Thanks.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
She will get a response when the staff member she sends it to reads it and resets her password.

@Forumwench: if you have nothing helpful to say, then don't post at all. Thank you.
She's the forum founder. She posted that because she's very frustrated and concerned about leaving a forum open and unmoderated. The forum still shows that I'm the "admin" with my user name in blue, but I have no access to admin tools. And she can log into utilities where you restore a forum, but not into admin. So you can understand the frustration and concern, no? And it is a convoluted process.
Thanks.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
Apologies, my mistake. So she can log into the utilities? If so, she can use the 'Direct connection to admin panel' tool there to make any necessary changes.
As for your situation, you may be in some 'admin' group but you may not be in the original admin group.

You're welcome. As before, I apologise for not realising she is the founder.
I shall leave this topic open for your reply.

There would have been no way for you to know that.
We're venting frustration. Will come back in when/if problem is resolved and let you know so that you can close this thread. Thanks again!

BTW, she just tried to go to the admin think through utilities, as you suggested, and the problem is - you have to log in to do that and it doesn't recognize her password. So now we have to wait to hear back from someone hear via PM (I emailed them an hour ago and they have yet to open the email). And meanwhile a board is left open and unmoderated. Not a good thing.
See why it's convoluted?

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
I see. Well, no matter how 'convoluted' it is, I can't do much about it. Looks like we'll just need to wait until the person she PM'd replies.
Please also note that the utilities can only be accessed by using the founding credentials i.e. the password and email addressed used at forum creation.

Here's what she says -
Yes I can access that using the founding email address and password, but that's not the same as the admin email and password. I haven't changed my password so why is it not accepting it?
Not one of the admins have opened their PMs.
Is there anything you can do to reach out to the admins listed on that password page and make sure they respond in a timely manner? Surely they check in here to address these types of issues? Thanks.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
I have the password and email used at the forum's creation. That's fine. It logs me in. But when I'm trying to log into the admin panel it tells me, wrongly, that my password is incorrect. When I try to reset the password it tells me, again wrongly, that the email is incorrect.
I'll just delete as soon as the Help People respond to me. I understand that people have lives. I just feel a bit nervous leaving it open. There are a number of lurkers and I don't want them posting something malicious, slanderous and/or trollish because a forum is open and unmoderated. It would not be the first time somebody did that on this forum.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
Hi, just a quick update. Nope, I can't reach out to the staff members listed for a quicker response time, sorry.
@Forumwench: In the utilities, you are able to disable the 'Disallow to send a new password to administrators and moderators' security feature. If you do that, you should be able to do a manual password reset.
If you do a manual password reset: please delete the PM you sent to the staff member to avoid your password being reset again.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
Ive tried that. Unfortunately, since it also tells me that my email is incorrect, I can't reset the password that way.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
I see. I've given you all the possible ways of recovering your password and it looks like you'll have to wait for the reply from the staff member you PM'd now.
Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
We finally got the password reset and have asked to delete the forum. Have asked 3 times and have yet to receive the confirmation email. Are you able to provide information on how long that will take? Thanks.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
If the founder has requested to delete their own forum, they should receive a confirmation email which completes the process immediately. Has the founder checked her inbox and junk just in case it ended up there?

Yes, she requested this 4 times now in the past 2 hours and no response. What's going on? Thanks.

Hi there. The deletion request was sent through but never happened. So we deleted all the threads so no one could post. As I told you yesterday, the admin has put me in the moderator and admin usergroups, but ever since the reactivation yesterday, I have no access to those tools. She logged in and reactivated me again today, but still no tools. Are there any solutions please?
Also, is it possible to recover threads that have been deleted? Or are they gone for good?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: reactivated forum = missing admin panel
The only way to recover deleted topics would be to use to restore function of the utilities. Has the founder checked ALL her email addresses to see if a confirmation email has been sent?
