is it ok to post links to music from youtube on my forum or will that fall into copyright category?

because it music it could be class as copyright with copyright they dont warn you they just delete your forum.. i just want to be 100% before i allow it to carry it on

Yes, you cannot post music. There could be copyright claims for the same.

Yes, you are responsible for the contents you post. So if its music thats posted on youtube, which can also have its claims can cause problems here.

Simply put, if i add movies on youtube & then post the links or embed it on youtube i am transmitting the content via my forum & i have to take responsibility & forumotion is not responsible. No one can file a suit against forumotion this way. If someone reports the forum, Forumotion will take action against the forum without hesitation.

I think thats how it is, because i remember in the past forums have been deleted for showing live streaming of football games. They as well embedded just a third party player to stream these, but it was the forum admin who was transmitting the stream.

Thats exactly my point, if the content itself is Legal then you can post it.

But, most of the music posted on youtube I think don't have the rights to distribute it.

So its better not to take a chance since you are not aware if the music posted has the rights or doesn't. Only official channels on youtube can have the rights to distribute this music.

Sanket this is such an old debate. Very big misconception

You are not responsible for what is uploaded to youtube.
It is youtube's responsibility to remove any things that may be under copyright infringement.

Youtube provides and offer the links and codes to share on websites and forums and other social networks.. There for the website or forum owner can not be held responsible of copyrights for content posted on youtube. It would have to be reported to youtube for them to remove and or take any actions they feel necessary from the account they have been uploaded from.

Now if it was something inappropriate such as porn.Then no, You the forum owner would be help responsible for such things as inappropriate content no matter where it came from.

But everyday youtube music videos, Once again it is youtubes responsibility to take necessary actions to have it removed from youtube.

If it was a violation for forumotion forum owners not to allow copyrighted videos and other content from youtube.. well every forum would be in violation .. LOL

But yeah sanket, this goes back way way far, even before i was a mod.
It's one of those things that have always been a big misconception.

Well, in a standard Youtube License, you declare that you are the owner of the work or has been licensed that you can upload/distribute the video. Basically, you are either a) the copyright owner of the work, or b) the owner of the work has allowed you to upload it to Youtube, and that a) other people CAN’T USE/REMIX your work without your permission.

So it means, after the permission from the author in my opinion.

You're allowed to post some Youtube links. If the content breaks the copyrights, the video will be removed from Youtube, but it has nothing to do with Forumotion.

You don't risk to see your forum banned. The only cases when the forum is banned by Online Guardian without any warning are when the forum is completely illegal or when we received an order from a competent authority.

Yes. What's not allowed, is to make available on your forum some links to download copyrighted contents.
The streaming links are also prohibited.

In fact, what's usually prohibited on the web, is also prohibited on Forumotion.
And Youtube is totally legal.
