That is a very bad solution to a problem that needs to be fixed by forumotion, the staff knows about the problem so the best thing to do is wait patiently. On top of that you could try turning off your anti-spam filter in your security settings under "Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames" and see if your members being blocked can login. But quite frankly changing your members user names is not a fix its a last resort workaround that is not an acceptable alternative.

I have heard too many people on this forum complaining about friends not being able to register with there forum because of that filter, so my conclusion is the filter is not accurate when it blocks members that are legitimate friends of there's. Its not just because its too short a name as to why it blocks them when they try to register, it blocks them for other reasons no one is real clear on, and that's the problem. But if that filter is related to this issue being discussed here in this topic I'm not sure about, just a thought and possibility.
