Solved Staff Section

Post by JennyorAlice May 14th 2013, 12:34 am

I have a section on my forum set up so that only my staff can see it. But I just had a regular member come to me and tell me they can see the staff section. I just looked at the admin panel and it still says that only the usergroups can see it (meaning the people I select as staff are only allowed to see it). So I'm wondering how this member can see the staff section when they are not selected as staff?

Hi,

Try this:

Go to your ACP >> Users & Groups >> Users >> Search users >> then type the username of the user whom said have the access >> click the Perms >> from there you can check the permission if he also have the access on the staff section.

Was this member at one time part of the staff? If he/she was, add him/her back to the staff group and then remove him/her in the administration panel.

Administration Panel > Users & Usergroups > Groups

Staff Section Slgray10

@Raizen I've done what you suggested and that member doesn't have access to the staff section.

@SLGray This member was never added to the staff at any point in time. This is a member that just joined recently (like within the last week and a half).

He could be not telling the truth. Its sad but I've had this happen on an old forum I once worked on for awhile this member came in and said they could see the staff section. I checked with my admins and they confirmed he couldn't see it.

I then proposed he take a screenshot and send it to me. Needless to say he said it had gone.

Maybe ask him to take a screenshot of the staff section to prove he can actually see it.

Hi,

Follow this simple steps:

1. Open your ACP.
2. Click on the General Tab.
3. Categories & Forums.
4. Perms the forum of the staff
5. The permissions should be something like this:
http://awesomescreenshot.com/08119w4f36

Make sure that those 4 boxes are unchecked Wink

Thank you, Derri, for your suggestion. I might do as you suggest.

Sir Chivas, I've done as you've suggested and those boxes are unchecked. So there can be no way that member can see them then, right?. Maybe this person isn't being completely truthful, like Derri suggested.

If you've done that then I'd try the truth test as you've done everything physically possible to ensure this person isn't being able to see the staff section.
