Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
Hi,
I have very good internet, and right now its taking me literally forever to load my forum: http://raptorgaming.forumotion.com
It's taking longer than usual for this help forum but mine is simply not loading. Thanks, if anyone sees this right now please inform me if it's happening to you as well.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
I had the slow loading problem with both of my forumotion forums when i started to type out this reply. But when i went to both of my forums to get the links they are both now loading faster.
http://simtech.forumotion.co.uk/forum And http://jackscreations.forumotion.co.uk/forum
Very strange how that worked out. But before i came on here to reply to this post it was taking about half a min to load up any new page. ie login in or just refreshing the page ect. It was the same with both foums.
Any other web site is very fast and as it is always. Lets hope it stays like this now. But i will pop back if there are any changes.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
It's total mayhem time again, guys. Everything's loading slow and freezes. I can't even access my ACP no more. Nothing seems to be working since I came on at 17:10 (GMT+1) and has been going on ever since.
My board: http://fcnl.actieforum.com. Other sites I was on at the time: http://www.avacweb.com , http://ondersteun.actieforum.com , https://help.forumotion.com .
PS: Sorry if I don't use the script; I haven't been able to. I copied this off of my notepad and pasted it when possible.

:o THAT'S WONDERFUL! Thanks FM! I just noticed it leveled off. Things are coming back atm. It's right around supper time in The Netherlands, so I can't monitor this situation until right after. I'll have another look soon. TY!SLGray wrote:Please read what @Buttercup posted. There could be slowdowns.Buttercup wrote:Hello

EDITED at 18:30 LT: OK, looks fine and stabile now. I couldn't double post, so that's why I'm editing this post. Thanks for replacing the server my board's on, FM. Let's see in a week's or perhaps 2 week's time how things are going and I really hope the backups are gonna be picking up this time as well! I'll inform my new members the servers got replaced. By the way... what was the issue with the other ones? We just got migrated like less then 2 months ago, I believe.
EDITED at 19:00 LT: It's loading like lightning speed on Chrome, FireFox and IE! My site has never been this fast b4! It's loading like in a tenth of a second on broadband now! Even the support forums load in a blink of an eye! And no, no caching, and yes a next-gen laptop using WiFi. I'm very happy with the outcome and results so far! The way I like thing to be. YAY!
EDITED at 19:25 LT: It's loading so fast I can't even see it's refreshing when I request it. But it did! This is absolutely fabulous!

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
I can also confirm that things are running much smoother now, thanks.
PS: I had to resynchronize the forum this morning as several topics' "most recent posts" as listed in the portal display were incorrect (we were missing messages posted since late yesterday). A few minutes after resynch this corrected itself. I mention this just in case anyone else might have noticed the same problem.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
@Buttercup : I haven't got a complaint since everything's running smoothly now, but a question. My website's loading very fast now, and since we got the new servers now, it looks like giphy.com cannot keep up the pace when loading the page. I've got several avatars and my banner hosted on giphy.com. When loading (opening the website), those images don't return upon (several) refresh(es). Is it giphy.com, my computer (next-gen laptop), internet connection (broadband) or the new server doing that?
Site address: http://www.friendcodes.nl / http://fcnl.actieforum.com
Thanks in advance.
Samantha.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
Hi Samantha - out of interest I tried your links and had absolutely no problem displaying the giphy-provided content. It loaded and displayed instantaneously.
In the past however I had a similar issue on my own site with servimg-provided images (stuck for a long time "waiting" and sometimes even timing out). Other users also reported the same. Yet when I linked directly in my browser to servimg and the images concerned there was no latency whatsoever. It turned out that servimg had changed embedded html for tracking purposes and this meant that the cached versions on all our browsers were no longer actually referencing the correct image definition as provided by the host. A flush of the cache locally did the trick. It happened again about a day later - for the same reason too - and again a flush got everything back in synch again.
Hope this might also help you?

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
Thanks. I'm caching alright and that's normal behavior for browsers, but it dumps the lot when I close any of my browsers (IE, FireFox, Chrome). I even use CCleaner and some other neat programs to hide traces and dump whatever I don't need on my laptop, including DNS cache. You see, I like to start my day fresh and clean. When I use the link I just provided in the post there seems to be no problem at the moment, however, there's no problem when I use it directly from my favorites neither, at the moment... Yesterday and this morning I ran into several needed page refreshes to get it all in place again. Thanks for considering answering my question to Buttercup.nordmann wrote:Hi Samantha - out of interest I tried your links and had absolutely no problem displaying the giphy-provided content. EDIT: Now, I'd like to wait and see what Buttercup has to say on this. I just did a refresh and giphy.com stuff wasn't loading again. If things got cached, those GIFs should be around somewhere on my laptop, right? It's not killing me, I'm just curious.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
@Buttercup : I removed my reaction in this topic and deactivated maintenance and "forum on holiday" mode on my website just now, 24 hrs after it all started in your capital, like promised.
There's never one real good place to express one's personal feelings when people are caught in a high-impact event like yesterday's. It crossed my mind opening a new topic on that in the "General Discussion" section, but I didn't want to give it too much of attention because of member's ages on the support forum. Because of my questions to you in this topic I felt I owe you an explaination as to why I temporarily closed my website IF you were wanting to answer them and needed access to it. Thanks for understanding. It really hit me yesterday. I fear it's far from over and it's just 300 miles from here.
OK, now let's try and stay on-topic again and I'll wait for your answer(s) on the cause, the "backup" and "giphy.com" issues, whenever you feel up to it. Please do take your time.
Thanks, and God bless you all in France.

Hello Samantha
giphy.com is not FM service, so if the service is not loading properly, it is not our fault... You can use http://gtmetrix.com/ to see your forum speed.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
OK, my speed's fine though (broadband).
Regarding the backups I remember in the past we had some extensive backup / restore possibilities. Backups were made regularly (sometimes more backups a day), more restore points were available and with a longer history. Looking at the possibilities now, backups are being made irregularly and we can fall back to a restore point like 1 or 2 weeks ago, with a list of fewer restore points to choose from. Is this gonna be picking up to the level we had before and is this related to the migration maybe? I'm scared that if I need to restore something, I can choose from just a few, starting with the newest one from 2 weeks ago.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
Our technicians are still working on backups. Now, we are much dates and we will have additional dates later. Technicians add them little by little to avoid problems.

Re: (Only Topic) Slow Loading/White Pages
Thats just great! Thank you very much commenting on my questions. I'll wait and see what's gonna happen with the blank pages / slowdowns this weekend (that's when it usually started) and comment on it if needed here. To me, this issue is closed for the moment.
Again, thanks FM.
