Solved Unwanted Adds on Forums

Post by JustError 22/3/2015, 20:10

Forum URL: www.brokenarrowcompany.com

Issue: Using Credits, I have disabled adds on our website for both members and guests. I have them disabled till February 2016.
For the past 6 months I have had nothing but positive feedback from our members, up untill now.

Yesterday I got a report that adds started to appear on our website (see screenshots for proof, from several members).
These advertisements even manage to get passed Add Blocker Pro plugin for the browser.
Obviously I do not want them, I pay for them to be gone and so they should stay gone; at the very least till February 2016.

Screenshots: https://i.imgur.com/Pg0vmDl.png & https://i.imgur.com/llgw9Pw.jpg

Devices: PC (win7), Mac (Yosemite), Laptop (envy)
Browsers: Chrome & FireFox.

Hope to get feedback on this asap.

EDIT: I just got intel. from a member that after a short maintenance on the 21st of March, the advertisements started to appear for him.
Still unconfirmed if this goes for all members.

Got a response from 3 users so far.

Devices: PC (win7), Mac (Yosemite), Laptop (envy)
Browsers: Chrome & FireFox.

Seems for most users the Advertisements originate from Quizonic.com.

Hello

For your information, those ads are not forumotion ads. Please check if you added something on your forum.

Hello Buttercup,

Could these adds be created by a widget that I placed on the forum? Such as a Music player or a Shoutbox?

Yes they could be, we've had similar issues in the past where people have added codes from outside of FM and they've contained Ads. If you remove them and see if the Ads stop appearing, then you'll know for sure.

Them ad's are most definitely from some thing you have added on your forum Widgets remove all codes and then you should have found the problem. 90% of free things like chat rooms and chat boxes and clocks have a ad's system on them to help pay for there service.
