Thanks, Forumotion, for COMPLETELY DESTROYING MY FORUM
Less than a week ago, I started a forum that was catching on real quick, and just a few minutes ago, we had hundreds of posts. Well, I assumed that it'd be best to make a backup, just in case of a cyber attack. I went into the process, and I was perplexed as to why I couldn't download my backup, so I chose to have it "restored" to the day that it was founded. I had no clue that it meant COMPLETELY RESETTING EVERYTHING. Now, I can't reverse this, as that was the ONLY option available for me. How truly pathetic on your part for limiting your members this way. Even 000webhost lets you somewhat have access to cPanel, and they don't force you to pay. My forum is ruined, thanks to the horrible software of yours. I will advise all of my friends to stay away from your services. Like they say, you get what you pay for.
Re: Thanks, Forumotion, for COMPLETELY DESTROYING MY FORUM
I see that you can't actually download backups. The only thing that will make me stay with you is if my forum can be backed up to how it was this morning. Otherwise, I won't be contributing another piece of data. It makes you wonder why forums are dying.
Re: Thanks, Forumotion, for COMPLETELY DESTROYING MY FORUM
Hello,.
You CAN restore it back, you would just need to restore it to the lastest date. You don't need to download the back up as it is stored serverside and your forum is automatically backed up. You don't need to worry about a thing.
The reason you probably cant restore it back is because your forum is probably so new that it was only able to do 1 back up. You don't need to restore your unless something DOES happen, that is why it is back up restore.

The "latest" date was on November 6, only one day since starting the forum. What else can I do? Just wait? For how long? I've got members visiting all the time.brandon_g wrote:Hello,.

Yes the reason for that is probably because it is so new, you shouldn't have restored it. If you had a question as to how the backup system works on FM is all you have to do is ask. Now I am not sure if it can be restored to how it was before you restored it, but if it is possible it would likely need to be done serverside by the pro team, but they wont be in the office again until tommorow morning french time.

I can still see our posts and such, but the index page says otherwise. OK, they really need to intervene on this as soon as possible.brandon_g wrote:Yes the reason for that is probably because it is so new, you shouldn't have restored it. Oh ok... If the posts are still there, then your fine! All you have to do is bump up the topics again by posting in them . This will let the index page know it is there .

Re: Thanks, Forumotion, for COMPLETELY DESTROYING MY FORUM
our team took a look at your forum and have said that your forum should be back to how it was now once you have made a new post in your forum all your statistics should be right again.Gaminglect wrote:It partly worked. This is the info i got off the team
we do not see any other problemsTech team wrote:The statistics are always a bit off after a backup.
Posting a message sets the statistics right for posts and synchronising the forum or activating a new member sets it right for the number of users.
In our statistics I can see that:
- on the 6th the forum had: 19 topics / 4 members / 22 posts
- today the forum has: 76 topics / 21 users / 299 posts
Hope this helps. Wink

In addition to what Ape said, I did say this last night as well.
That happened to me on my forum after a restore, that is how I got it to look back to normal .

Re: Thanks, Forumotion, for COMPLETELY DESTROYING MY FORUM
I will also remind you that right now the backup system only backs up your forum once a week right now.
This may change but right now it is not possible.
