Solved Malware detected?

Post by Rbjustme January 12th 2016, 5:44 am

Hello all,

Is this for real or is it a hoax to sell a product? In the last week or so I have had a problem with email notifications from my site, not being forwarded to me, and a scan revealed that these email addresses have been blocked externally, the emails addresses are masked. I have contacted the provider and I am waiting a reply. Settings in the ACP are correct.

Today however, and on line scan of my forum, has turned up this, as posted in the image below. Could I please have some input to this?

The scanner link is below:

https://sitecheck.sucuri.net//

Thank you,

RB.

It looks like an issue with something on your portal? Do you have any customized widgets on the portal? Also it could be that the scan is picking of the ads on your forum.

I scan your forum here, https://www.virustotal.com/en/url/0aabad02a893c0582d01bef4448b57ffa5f037e5f8889cc627c86a704998f2de/analysis/1452576796/ , it says that it is clean.

I have not customised any widgets on the portal. You tube video, weather, slide show etc. The link is below if you wish to view it. The widget codes are from the sites themselves not developed by me.

Thank you SL Very Happy

There is not a default Youtube widget, so it has to be a customized widget. Customized means that you created the widget.

Ok thank you SL,

Is there a problem then? or is it just a difference of opinions with the scanners?

Solved Re: Malware detected?

Hello,

If you want my personal opinion on this, I think these scanners are fake. I think they have been programmed to give a random result/message each time. Granted I can't prove this 100%, but that is just my opinion and I would say don't trust an ounce of what it says. FM sites are secure, they are all run on FM's server, so in order for one forum to have a virus in it, they ALL would have to have it in it. I have a paid Anti-Virus software, MCaffee, in my computer and it includes a built in web scanner. If there is any scanner I would trust the most, it would be that one, only because I paid 30 bucks for it.

My point is: I don't think these 'scanners' are accurate in the least bit and you should rest assured knowing your forum is SECURE on FM Smile.

Hi Brandon, thank you for your input.

I have no doubt at all about FM's security, and you know as well as I do that some software company get up to all sorts of tricks to sell a product, but it is something that I have to be sure about, especially for my members security, it pays to be vigilant. Smile

Also did you read their disclaimer:

Yes, as SGray says, the site itself says it can't be fully accurate. I personally wouldn't go by a free web scanner's word, even if I had doubts about a site's secureness.

FM is secure and there are no viruses to speak of, that scanner is just 'bollocks' if you ask me. I mean for peep sake, it probably gives a different result everytime. I mean come on, that is beyond 'in accurate' and it is more like, "What do I want to make up about this site today?".

Again, the above is just my personal opinion and not aimed anyone, any site or even any scanners, so please dont take it as such.

I have read the disclaimer, I have scanned the site a few times with the same result, and once again, I am not questioning FM's security, if I had doubts about that I wouldn't be here Smile

Thank you both for your help.

Solved Re: Malware detected?

I will just like to add one thing.

If your site has downloads on them then this can show as malware This is nothing to worry about as most sites that have downloads get the same warnings.

Also the RevolverMaps widget is classed as malware file as its reading members cookies.

there is nothing to worry about Wink

I ran a scan on your full forum page and found no big problem other then links going in and out from the RevolverMaps widget and that is all but no need to remove it.
