Usernames already exist?

Description of problem

But the problem is, they don't exist. I'm building a forum currently and some of my members wanted to register already. Only thing is that when they enter a username, they get a message with that username existing already. But when you check the memberlist they aren't there. I've advised them to put a period or comma behind and then it works.
Does this mean I'll have to remove periods and comma's from my members usernames all the time? Or is this some Forumotion bug?

What are the usernames the users are trying to register as? If it is too simple the system might block because it might be a commonly used spam name.

You can reduce the possibility of your users recieving this message by going to ACP (Admin panel)--->General--->Security--> Find 'Prevent registration using the most commonly used spam usernames' (may not be worded exactly as it appears in the admin panel), tick this to 'No' and hit save.

This should minimize the amount usernames that would trigger this message and also mi imize the amount of users signing up that will recieve this message.
