The timed out error messages are appearing once more.
Technical Details
Forum version : #phpBB2
Position : Administrator
Concerned browser(s) : Google Chrome, Safari
Screenshot of problem : http://prntscr.com/a06b70
Who the problem concerns : A few members
When the problem appeared : Yesterday, February 06th, towards the late evening, EST.
Forum link : http://PlatinumHearts.net
Description of problem
Since Late Yesterday we have been having some problems with the timed out error message. At first I thought it was only myself and didn't want to make any concerns about it. This has happened in the past, and normally it was a forummotion thing and if we waited, we wouldn't have to worry again. However it's back again, and it has never stayed this long on our site before; it's very frustration to spent only a minute or two typing something up and then getting an error message either when you try to preview it or even post it.Unfortunately I feel like it's a forummotion thing rather than our website as I even got this message when trying to get to your website. I checked the updates and such, and saw nothing big or alarming that would cause this other than the valentines stuff, but I feel like that isn't the case.
If I could have someone to check in on this that would be helpful, a lot of our members are getting agitated. With that being said I did do some research on the manner, and I find a lot of solutions weren't found, just the messages either stopped or it got thrown into garbage.
In those messages they normally asked for the date in which it happened, when it happened, where you lived, ad take a screenshot.
If we were talking about yesterday it would happen after I clicked preview or send and since I was working on visuals I was doing that frequently. I would type up a few things, maybe at most would take me five minutes. So we should just say the time was five minute intervals.
Earlier this morning it was happening less frequently, but still appearing and I even had a member complain. the problem must have been occurring every ten minutes or more.
Now it has happened at around 10:30 -40 and while I was now able to go ad load the page faster and even send and preview stuff without the message it is still popping up.
I live in Canada, but our member base spans from America, Australia, Europe, ect.
Here is my screenshot: http://www.platinumhearts.net/
I use Google chrome, but some of our members use firefox
lastly, it was in February 6th and 7th.
Even if the problem isn't something that can be fixed right away, a reply would be nice so I may notify our member base of the situation at hand.
Thank you very much.
Edit:
I just got it agian.

Re: The timed out error messages are appearing once more.
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that this issue comes from our anti flood system. Sometimes it over protects your forum and leads to these messages. I perfectly understand the annoyance this message creates, in fact I am one of 2 users who pushed to get an answer to this issue. We recieved our answer/explaination in this topic: https://help.forumotion.com/t139018p30-your-request-timed-out?highlight=your+request+timed+out . Since we got this explaination, I have not reported or made any topics on it. The explaination was good enough for me, as even though it is an annoyance, a simple refresh can normally solve the issue.
On days when this happens, I would personally recommend copying (as in copying and pasting) your messages before you send them, that way if the message happens, you can simply paste it back in and re send it .
Sorry about the inconviences and annoyance once again guys.

Timed out
02.07.2016
I also live in Canada and experienced the same problems Saturday afternoon, 06/02/16.
Brandon thanks for the link. I do copy and paste when experiencing time outs in our forum.
Buttercup thanks for the detailed explanation, I can live with that. It's nothing more than an occasional minor annoyance. But, I can also understand why members get frustrated and upset too, especially if they have typed a lengthy message in replies. I can now pass your explanation on to forum members.
Thanks!

Re: The timed out error messages are appearing once more.
One of my members mentioned this to me on saturday, so I just told him to leave it for
a few minutes and then try again, which he did and everything was ok.

Re: The timed out error messages are appearing once more.
If this is anti-flooding then the cure is worse than the sickness.
It is not just inordinate delays that my users are complaing about but the fact that they persistently get "webpage not available" after the delay, resulting in them losing any post data inputted just before. I am also seeing the same apparent comms breakdown alert on the site.

Today the time out is the worst I've ever experienced. I'm unable to post "Quick Replies" without time out.
I have had to revert to copy and paste every post or risk losing the post due to page timed out.

Same problem on http://swordartonline.lifeme.net
Site works really slow on my PC, when I try to log in, it throws timeouts at me. Works fine on mobile though.

Try clearing cache, browser history, and cookies.
If you refresh when you submit, you should still be fine.

Re: The timed out error messages are appearing once more.
Yeah I have not had a single timed out message from my phone, so thats why I don't even know how bad it has been, I haven't had one in awhile . It appears to not happen, or atleast not as frequent from mobile. If anyone has a mobile device, try viewing your forum from that for the time being until the techs have fixed this.

I am having the same issue. Multiple members reporting the site takes a minute to load. Then when they make a post and click send they get a timed out message.

Thanks for your patience & understanding
Best regards
Buttercup
EDIT: The problem was coming from our DataCenter (OVH) that has blocked some IP for unknown reason. Now, the situation should improve little by little.
Thank you so much for your patience

Re: The timed out error messages are appearing once more.
Hi Buttercup
In response to your question - today I have not received any further complaints.
Earlier today however I noticed that using the back button on my browser (Chrome) resulted in an error due to "too many looped referbacks" or similar when navigating through my website. Flushing cache seemed to temporarily fix the problem, but not for long. This problem had also intermittently occurred over the last few days.
I am not sure if this was related to the other stuff going on. But if not, it has coincidentally turned up at the same time, which makes me suspect that it is.
