html page as a homepage
.
Hi. With reference to this tutorial:
https://help.forumotion.com/t63491-create-a-loading-page-before-accessing-your-forum
We gave it a try but it didn't work as expected. There seems to be a contradiction here and this is exactly what happened: When we say click "enter" in the first html page (the *New Homepage*), we logically go to the second html page. After 4 seconds (as exactly specified in this tutorial), this second page refreshes itself and takes us to… what? NOT to the original forum, but to the "New Homepage*—the first html page! In other words, we got trapped in a loop between the two html pages. We never got back to the forum (because the forum now has a *new homepage*, remember?) Does this make sense?
I'd highly appreciate it if anyone could help clear up this contradiction. We'd give it another try but, first, what are we missing? Either way, how could we force the second html page to refresh into the original forum, the old homepage, not into the new homepage (the first html page)?

Re: html page as a homepage
Hi. Can someone please at least confirm that the mistake is ours? I don't really believe that a tutorial on this forum can possibly have any error or contradiction. But perhaps, six years later, it's too old? Somehow for some reason it doesn't work anymore? Anyway, we really need this new homepage as soon as possible. Can anyone please at least confirm that there is a way to do this on a PHPBB 3 forum? Thanks in advance.

Alright, everyone. I was willing to write more but unfortunately I have no time at the moment. This is to first express my sincere thanks to the gentleman who graciously offered to help in private, Mr. DigiScrapCafe. Although he's not another script magician here, he still took the time to write to me, in detail, about his own experience with this issue. So first of all thanks to DigiScrapCafe.
This is also to inform all those interested in this topic that the answer is Yes, it can be done. It's even easy to do it, based on our search in the last few days, although it probably involves some JavaScript coding. This is probably the unfathomable reason nobody could even comment on my question here. (This forum, I believe, is as supportive and responsive as ever. I truly and deeply appreciate this forum and all those wonderful developers and designers aboard. They don't only "help" us "fix" our problems, as a "Forumotion Support" team or section; they rather give us every kind of answer, and they even take the time, in most cases, to come up especially for us with all those tailored scripts and codes, in reply to our individual requests, and just to satisfy our fleeting whims and desires. How wonderful!)
The reason they didn't even comment this time, as far as I can tell, is that doing it through JavaScript may give someone the opportunity to remove altogether the line "Powered by Forumotion…"* which's understandably a must, following the usual scenario (or following this tutorial, which I unfortunately still find self-contradictory if the "portal" is not active). I really can't think of any other reason. But anyway it can be done, if anyone is interested. (How? Learn JavaScript. )
So our Mods it's okay, we're done here I guess. You may kindly close it now, or move it to the proper section—or to the garbage, whatever.** Thanks everyone; I do understand (or so I believe. ).

* Little do they (or rather we) know that even in the usual scenario (in case the portal is active) we can put it in a <meta> and it'll work just as well. : D
** My advice, out of my loyalty, and based on my little knowledge of marketing, is to give another name to the "garbage." Why put your members' unsolved problems or questions (or a thread like this one) in a "garbage" section? Call it instead the "Archive," just for example, and let the "garbage" be only for the real garbage.
