Re: Slowdowns?
@The Godfather , could you please explain why we had another outage? And are we going to have more of them in the near future? Thanks in advance.

'Great!'. I'm gonna be censoring my thoughts on that for the good of my warning bar, but I'd really appriciate it if someone could explain all of those outages and slowdowns lately. Moreover, could someone semi-guarantee there will be no more of them for a while?
Re: Slowdowns?
I have just asked a co worker to PM him and get him to reply to me on here or the French forum
I hope i will get some thing back soon and i will ask him to post here when he gets time.

Hello,
Just a temporary network overload that caused this temporary inaccessibility. Nothing serious

Isn't this calculable @The Godfather? Because we've been experiencing plenty of them 'overloads' for quite some time now. When the Americas come online around 3 pm CET and when the European weekends start 5 pm CET (the time the Paris offices closes and support can't be reached no more, unfortunately), these kind of outages and slowdowns seem to occur frequently. It all comes together now. It's either network related or the servers need to be split to devide the load not to get 'overloaded'. Well, isn't it time for Forumotion then, to scale up and invest in equipment to expand the network capability? I'm asking this, because I'm seeing support tickets being archived without satisfactory explanation (while you seem to know what's going on in reality) and things getting 'overloaded' frequently without any warning prior notice. I'm a paying member, and I pay plenty for your services in my believe, through various sites.
EDIT: Oh wow, it just got marked 'Solved'!
Well not by me.
Re: Slowdowns?
The slowdowns are no longer occuring? Are they? If so, that is probably why it was marked solved by a staff member.

Re: Slowdowns?
As the problem is now fixed our side The godfather may have marked it as solved!!
To your Question :
We sorry but we can't say it will not happen again but we do know we do our best to make sure we don't get down time on our servers.
our servers get hit hard some times and most of the time it will cope with the hits but now and then the system says hold on guys and slows down this is not just our servers its all around the world on all sites (Even Google) so to ask if this will keep happening well the answer to that is No one knows But we do our best to limit this as much as we can.

Re: Slowdowns?
With all due respect I understand what you're saying, but isn't this the standard answer we've all been getting for a while now? This isn't an issue, it's a problem. The symptoms may have gone alright, but that didn't fix the problem. So, staff may mark it Solved, but in fact it isn't. That's why I didn't close the ticket yet
Re: Slowdowns?
There is really no way to prevent slowdowns. Slowdowns are a way for the system to handle heavy traffic. Also this does not just happen to forums hosted by Forumotion. I have seen it on many different sites.

That's still not a solution and very much similar to all the answers I've seen in other tickets about the same kinda stuff. If you've got a flat tire and you see many more drive with a flat tire, does that automatically mean that's normal? Because that's what you're actually telling me: I just have to close my eyes, and keep on driving, right? I'm not asking a comparison between sites, I'm not asking for 100% up-time, all I'm asking for is to keep slowdowns and outages to an absolute minimum and I feel this isn't a minimum and FM is all too aware of it. So how they're gonna solve this problem? Everyone's complaining about it, and has been complaining about it for a longer period of time. All we can see there's no real solution being implemented yet, except for the replacement of servers like 1.5 years ago.
Now, please, let The Godfather and/or a pro-admin have an answer on this. Thank you.
Re: Slowdowns?
Hello,
Forumotion servers are from the latest generation that you can find on the market and are at the top level performance dude
But as already said, it's impossible to ensure full time availability. We do not choose to have hardware problems...! You can buy the most efficient and performent car in the world and it will fail without warning ... so I can not give you a promise that nobody in the world can hold. Google goes down, Facebook goes down, twitter goes down and Forumotion forums goes down from time to time to.
All you need to know and i can guarantee you is that behind our service you have a team who work night and day to correct these errors when they appear. But i can't gives you guarantee against the unknown, because if I could do it, I'll go play lottery ...
thanks for your understanding

Dude?? I don't think you want to be called The Godmother either, do you?
I understand what you're saying and, again, I'm not looking for 100% up-time here. All I'm asking for is to be in control and stay in control, even of the network components (none of that is to be found in your reply, unfortunately).
I've got a few more questions:
- Are these slowdowns / outages network or server related?
- Is FM in control of the servers only or network just the same?
- If FM is in control of the network, because of frequent 'overloads', when will these components be upgraded / replaced or network bandwidth be increased?
- You're mentioning 24/7 support, nothing less (good work btw), but the experience proves no support is available (to staff) from 5 pm CET on Fridays - 9 am CET on Mondays. How come we're (and staff is) left in the dark during such periods of time? Most of the slowdowns and outages occur during the weekends.
- Outages are mostly not being recognized by support during the weekends. Are they equipped with tooling to get the alarms when outages do occur? And how will they report back to us?
- Are the outages / slowdowns being recognized as a problem rather than incidental issues by your organization?
Thanks in advance for answering them.
Samantha.

I'm hosting my URL from dreamhost, you think maybe its causing lag every once in awhile and causing it not to display at certain times?
Re: Slowdowns?
Yes i think it may be them try giving them a call and ask if there is any server problems as we can not really deal with URL's that are not hosted by us.
Right now our systems are running 100%

Le bump, please! Thank you, @The Godfather . + sites are really lagging a lot sometimes! And it's not our provider, that much I know!
Re: Slowdowns?
@SamanthaMelissaS your questions have no relation with your slowdown problem
as already indicated, there is currently no slowdown on our service.
