Solved A members insists on deleting all of their posts

Post by silvering8 June 15th 2016, 9:36 am

Hello!

I'm new here. I don't know how things work yet, so please excuse me if I make any mistakes.

We have a problem with a former user. She asked to be deleted from the forum, which we did as soon as we had the chance.

However, she keeps sending PM and emails to the admins (including myself), asking from us to delete all of her posts.

I found the section concerning that issue and I read that we are not obliged to do so. There isn't anything insulting, racist etc. or anything that could identify the user in her posts (she used a fake email address, after all).

Her posts are mainly google images about cosmetic/makeup dupes (that's the main subject of the forum), so there is nothing she "owns".

Her posts are more than 450, so no admin has the time to delete them and, frankly, she is so insulting (she keeps sending emails that abuse and insult the admins) that no admin is willing to do so.

Are we still obliged to delete her posts?

Regards,
Silvering

Hello,

You are correct, if those posts are as you have described you are under no obligation to delete them.

Thank you for your prompt answer, Leviosa!

Glad to find you here. We have very temperamental members in our forum tongue

I read all the rules, instructions, topics before I sent an email to this member. However, she insists. There is no way anyone of the admns be willing to spend time searching and deleting her posts.

Do I have to send an example of her posts, in case she makes any report for our forum? The subject is about cosmetics and the images are not even hers - there is no issue of ownership.

Lastly, her language is insulting and she keeps sending emails. Does that constitute harassment or abuse on her behalf?

Thanks again!

Hello,

If she does report your forum, the staff would have to check first her messages. So if her messages are really just about comestics and so I think they won't spend their time erasing her messages. How does she keep contacting your admins?

Thanks for your help, Leviosa! I appreciate it!

That's what I'm trying to find out. She sends us PMs.

I have deleted her account and have banned a second account she created right after her deletion (which she requested herself), from which she sent us an insulting PM. I have also banned her email address and all the IPs she has used, but she can still sends us PMs from her original email address (she just sent another PM, about 1 hour and a half ago - it's all written in Greek, though).

I'm trying to find out if there is an option to mark her email address as spam/abusive etc.

ok she is using the Contact us link at the bottom of your forum.

To stop this from getting used by this member you need to follow this easy step

ACP >> General Tab >>  A members insists on deleting all of their posts Boite_email Messages and e-mails >>

  • e-mails and contact >> Scroll down to >> Contact form >> SET to NO then SAVE

Now this member can not use the link to PM you.

Hi APE,

thanks for your reply! I have already done that, I just forgot to inform you and all others. I disabled the contact form and checked 'No' in the field "Allow new members" - at least for a few days. Let's hope she gets tired and leaves as at peace.

I think the problem is solved now, you can close the topic.
