Registration Confirmation Code Verification

The "Confirmation" code in the AP > user options doesn't appear to be working on my forum.
New members can't register because when the confirmation code has been input, it comes up with "Error" I have re synchronized the forum with no success.

I did try myself to create a new user to verify that the complaint was valid. Sorry but I don't recall the wording of the error message. The complaint was brought to my attention (PM) by a member who's friend is trying to join our Forum.

Any help at resolving this issue would be appreciated.

It would help to see screenshots of the process and the error message. 

Is this happening on PC's and/or mobile devices?

And just to understand, there is only one member who has some troubles with the "Confirmation Code" feature? If yes, we really need a screenshot to help us to understand.

SLGray/Leviosa Thanks for your quick response.
I personally knew the member that was trying to join the forum. So I temporarily disabled the confirmation code and they successfully joined the forum. I tried again this AM to register as a new member with the "Captcha" confirmation code enabled and it worked as designed.
In the past, strange things have happened (members unable to log IN) at the first of the month, and required re synchronizing, but, not of late.
Maybe re synchronizing the forum last night fixed the problem. BTW I do like the new confirmation code format, I found the old style difficult to read at times.
