Help with Facebook

My brain has turned to mash! I am getting too old for this lark, and holding and following the information is not doing it any good either. can I pay someone to sort it for me? or is there a real idiots guide.
I have got as far as th App and code, and copied the Javascript, I have a Facebook icon on the login page that does absolutely nothing.

I am trying to get members to login using their FB, and hope to have some post appear from the forum to FB.

All you have to add to your forum is the two codes in the administration panel. You are referring to Facebook Connect, correct?

Some of the fb members say it works, yet then again do they know what they are looking for? some are saying it says testing mode, or under development, so many different platforms nowadays, I am going round and round following instructions that differ from what I am told elsewhere.

Are these new members who are registering with their Facebook accounts or accounts before you activated Facebook Connect?

If old accounts, they have to associate their two account in their profiles on your forum.
