New Members Activation.
Can Anyone tell Me why, whenever a new Member Registers, Admin has to Activate the Account....Ive clicked on No Activation or User a few times over the last 6 Months, but every time I get a New Member they still have to be manually Activated by Admin, when I check, the settings have gone back to Admin Activation, Any idea why it keeps doing this...? It is costing Me new Members coming back, once they find they cant get on the Forum, they rarely come back after Activation.
New accounts activation :0 No activation 0 User 0 Admin
Also can Anyone explain in simpler terms what this means, ive read it a few times and its in riddles..........or is it me
Please note; Whatever Your Member Activation Choice; The Admin must Manually Activate New Members as long as there is no Activity on the Forum
This is to prevent Spam.
Thanks in Advance.

Re: New Members Activation.
Hello,
It is exactly as the message says, our system has a anti spam safeguard in place, this is that if the forum is inactive or doesnt get messages posted daily, the system makes admin have to activate all new accounts until the forum is active, once the forum is active, this should switch to the setting you chose automatically.
I would suggest making sure to post something everyday, then this will prevent this.

Thanks for Your Reply brandon_g , Yes I understand the New Members Activation if the Forum isn't Active Part now, with Your Explanation , Thing is My Forum has Probably a couple of Hundred Posts Daily, Maybe more on a Good Day.......We have at present 161,380 Posts, so We are fairly Active.
Obviously I do not want to Manually Activate New Members Accounts every time, so which would be the best to click in the Settings, No Activation, or User ...?
Thanks.

If that is the case then it should be using your settings. Could it be possible your users are not checking their email for the activation email, hence not activating their accounts?

Re: New Members Activation.
Quite possible They are not checking Their emails to see that I have Activated Their Accounts, I also Personally emailed Them Welcoming them to the Forum, and informing Them the Account had been Activated.........But for every 10 New Members roughly only 2 come back once They see They have been Activated.
Thanks for Your Replies brandon_g & SLGray , I will re set Activation in Admin and see if it stays this way again......I will check more often as maybe it re sets when the Forum / server is updated...?????? Just a Thought .
Thanks I will Mark as Solved.

Re: New Members Activation.
It shouldnt update, it should stay at whatever setting you have it at. You could set it to no activation and that might help solve your problem.

Re: New Members Activation.
Ive Set it to User, might be safer......it might reduce the possibility of Logging on one Morning to find a New Member has run riot on the Forum over Night, at least They would need to Activate the Account via a Link in the email They have provided.
Thanks.
Thanks.
