Re: Forum say unsecure
http is considered unsecue by most browsers.
https is considered secure.
Your forum is secure with both http and https. You can add https to your forum's link by following this tutorial: https://help.forumotion.com/t150650-ssl-certificate-guide-for-a-success-forum-migration-to-https#1038838 .

Re: Forum say unsecure
If you want your forum to appear secure, you need to buy the Advanced Package, then buy a SSL Certificate.
About the security of your forum. Https means that data your users send to the forum and the forum sends to the users is completely encrypted and cant be read or modified. Http means that data(usernames, passwords, posts etc.) travels through the internet unencrypted and people can try to read or modify it. On http, you're 90% secure. On https, you're 99% secure.
Another problem with not having SSL on your forum is that google will rank websites with ssl higher than those without it and most browsers will mark it as unsafe. If I were you, SSL would be the first and only thing I'd purchase for my forum.

Re: Forum say unsecure
Hello,
If you go to the package section of the admin panel (located at ACP--->Misc), it will tell you how many credits are required and if you click the button it will then give you a price.

This will tell you everything you need to know.
3.2. Activate SSL certificate to migrate your forum in HTTPS
The SSL certificate for a Forumotion forum is an option included in the and Forumotion packages.
As soon as your forum is in Advanced or Premium package, you have the possibility to order the installation of a SSL certificate to secure it, without additional cost.
Go to your Administration panel Misc Credits management - Summary & Management
In the "Enabling the SSL certificate (HTTPS)" section, click on the "Modify" button to order the installation of your certificate.
Then click on the "Install SSL Certificate" button:
Installing and activating an SSL certificate can take up to 96 hours.
From then on, the SSL certificate of your forum is installed and will remain active throughout the validity period of your current package (monthly or annual). At the end of the validity date of your package, your forum will cease to be accessible in HTTPS.
In all cases, as soon as your forum's SSL certificate is activated, its status is updated in the overview and management of your forum's features:
So that you can have an overall view, here is the exact process:
- Your forum is in HTTP and you want to secure it by switching in HTTPS mode
- You subscribe, if not already done, to an Advanced or Premium package,
- You order the set up of the SSL certificate via Credits management > Spend credits > SSL Certificate
- The SSL certificate is activated on your forum. You can see the announce "The SSL certificate for your forum is active . It expires in : XXX Days" in the "Enabling the SSL Certificate (HTTPS)" part. Note that the enabling can take 4 days long.
- Then a new bloc called "Configuring the HTTPS protocol" appears below. It is where you can configurate the protocol of your forum with your own choices.
- In this same bloc, the option "Forum protocol" permits to choose if you want an HTTP or HTTPS forum.
- If you keep it in HTTP it is like you never installed the SSL certificate. If you switch to HTTPS, it applies the certificate on all your forum URL and puts them in HTTPS.
- Your forum is now in HTTPS and secured !
Re: Forum say unsecure
If you have anything on your forum that is linked off site and has a http, this can cause the browser to consider the page to be unsecure. Basically all images and links have to have https. If the links and images are hosted by Forumotion, they will be automatically changed to https.
