Registering a new member on Trackaholics and of Forumotion

When the problem appeared : A problem of a prospective new member registering on the forum I am admin on brought this to my attention a few days ago.

Description of problem

The person concerned told me that his name Andy Clegg and also his email address had already been taken on my site even though he had not registered here before. I checked this out thoroughly and there is no one of that name or email address on my register at all.

With his permission I tried to register on the site and found this problem to be correct. I changed his first name a little bit and was able to use that, but was then told his email address was already taken.

I registered on this Freemotion forum this morning to try and find out why this could be happening and found a thread that suggested a fix ( General/Forum/Security), but the next part of the fix does not exist on my part of the administration so I was unable to continue.

I have suggested that the member tries to use a different email address, but he has only two email addresses an does not want to use the other one.

The only thing I can think of that could be affecting this is that the name and email address he wants to use is also used on another Freemotion site without any problem.

Did you check here:  AP > Users & Groups > Users > Inactive Users?

Creating an account on one forum hosted by Forumotion does not stop you from making the same account on other forums hosted by Forumotion.

If what SLGray and Skouliki said doesn't work, try this:

ACP(Admin Panel)-->General--> Forum--> Security --> Security Administration --> Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames: tick to no and save.

Often names will be on the broader anti spam list and doing the above will narrow the list down to the basic anti spam list.

If its not allowing the email address though, it is likely because the user already registered and the account is where SLGray said.

I think SLGray may have solved the problem with the inactive members. I found the person I mentioned plus 20 other inactive accounts.

I will send them all an email to explain what has happened and hopefully they will all be able to sign in.
