Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
As the title states, I've had some forum members try using the "Forgotten" password function but it doesn't work.
The link to "Reset"in the email they receive only leads to another internet page that doesn't work.
Is there a fix for this problem.
Cheers

http://detectingwestaustral.forumotion.com/
2 screen shots. I used myself to show what happens.
First is the email and the "Click Here" link takes me to a page that advertises URLs.
I use IE but the other forum members use Chrome.

The URL used to be detectingwestaustraliangold.com
But it now shows as a forumotion url, I didn't change it.

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
i assume you did not you buy a package to renew your domain

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
Are you saying, as I only have the basic package, the URL has reverted back to the Forumotion URL ?
If that is the case, then I can cease ownership of the old URL.
But how does that affect members from not being able to reset their passwords or do I have to have a paid package for the function to work.

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
Domain name is only available for forums with advanced or premium packages as the tutorial says
the reset password function must work automatically and its free service of course
i will tag @APE to look into this cause the receiving mail should have the correct link url

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
If you look at the email, it shows the domain name address. Since you have the free package, your domain name is not exactly working. I would say the link also includes the domain name. You either need to purchase the advanced or premium so the domain name (If it is not expired.) will work or remove the domain name.

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
Hello i have looked at this and see that your domain name has ran out.
Please PM me with your forum address and your Email address i will then send you a new password.
once you have the new password use the default address to log in your forum then you will need to remove the Doamin you used before or buy a package from your ACP then you can then buy the domain name again.

I see what you mean and I didn't notice it on the email. I am still the registered holder of the original URL but I see from the Admin Panel summary, the forum URL has reverted back to Forumotion. I don't have a problem with that and it can stay that way.
From this function in the Admin Panel, can I change the URL back to the Forumotion URL without doing any damage to my forum ?

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
Exactly you should remove that when you do not have a domain name.

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
Well before I proceed to make changes in the Admin Panel, I just need to make sure I fully understand the process.
I just go into the section "Domain Name", delete what is there and leave it blank. Is that correct ?

Re: Forum members cannot reset forgotten password
can you make sure it is all deleted then go to the following settings.
ACP >> General tab >> Forum >> Configuration >> scroll to the bottom of the page and find >> Resynchronize your forum statistics : tick the box then save.
that should tell our servers to change the settings our side if not it can take upto 24 to 48hrs to change our end.
As the address is still linked to the account.

Done and I'll wait 24 hours before testing the email link again.
Many Thanks
