Adding widgets on homepage version phpBB3

Hello.
I am the owner of http://artistictagpassions.forumotion.com/
Version is phpBB3 (prosilver)
I would like some widgets on the left side of the homepage. We have a portal page as well.
I activated the widgets but when I did that the information from the portal page then displayed on the homepage of the forum, but I want the things from the portal page to stay on the portal page and add other things to the homepage.
I have done a search for widgets but I am still confused as to what to do to make certain widgets appear on the homepage and others appear on the portal page.
Help in layman's terms would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using the same widgets that are on the portal, they will show the same thing on the index/homepage.
