Forum search doesn't function properly
We get strange results when we google search the forum in this manner:
site:ancaps.forumotion.com some thread heading
Instead of that thread being listed in the search results, the forum's inbuilt sitemap is listed.
How can we solve this?
Thanks
(we use phpBB2)

Re: Forum search doesn't function properly
you mean the search option in your forum or the google results if you search your forum url ?
Re: Forum search doesn't function properly
The latter, if you mean a search as described in the first post...
site:ancaps.forumotion.com some thread heading

Re: Forum search doesn't function properly
We appreciate the suggestion, but it didn't make any difference in this case.
Do you know of any other possibilities worth investigating?
Thanks.

Re: Forum search doesn't function properly
Is your forum new? If yes, it takes time for Google to index your forum. Also understand that only what is visible to guests will be indexed. You can speed up the process by sharing content from your forum on social media.

Thanks for your reply SLGray
No, our forum is not new, and guests can view all posts.
Something else is amiss.

Re: Forum search doesn't function properly
Code that specifies our site, followed by a post heading.
Here's an example:
site:ancaps.forumotion.com 5 Radical Schooling Ideas For An Uncertain Fall And Beyond
Goolge does not list the specific post, only a few sitemap urls e.g. this one:
https://ancaps.forumotion.com/sitemap11.xml
Here's the actual post, which is not listed.

Re: Forum search doesn't function properly
Sadly we have no power over what google lists from your forum.
As far as i know the only real way to make google find posts faster is to make more posts in it and get members to view it more.
Google don't like to list any threads that are not used often.
