Sorry, but this username has already been taken.

started a brand new forum and people are already complaining about this error or code popping up. I'm the only user on it, so I'm not sure how to go about fixing this?

Exactly the link is not needed.  It sounds like the security option that deals with known spammers.   Check here:  AP > General > Forum > Security
In the list look for an option that says something about known spam usernames.
