Mentioning Author While Quoting

Again, me, hope having multiple topics like this is not a problem.

I'd like to get notifications when someone quoted my posts. I've searched as detailed as I can but I haven't see any topic for it.
I've found a poll to have this option properly default for each forum which is great.

In the meantime, I was looking for a way to turn username into mentioned tag on the quote's so that users can get notification by tagging anyway.

I tried forcing it, like adding [@"] at the beginning and replacing [wrote:] part with ["] in the <cite> code using JS which worked visually like this;

Code:

@"username"

but it didn't turn into tagging automatically. Unfortunately, my js knowledge is limited and can't go any further.

So, I hoped maybe someone has this code or can come up without too much effort.

The thread was directly about getting a new field of notification for quoting, that's why I thought maybe someone can turn quoted username into tagged user, kinda cheating the system.

I'd like to keep this topic open and give a chance to coders we have here to see, if possible. If you are sure there is no way for this and it's against the rules to keep a topic open like this for an unknown time, than we can close the topic I suppose. I'm just not sure if I'm comfortable with marking it solved as it is

If a member is watching a topic and gets quoted, he/she will get a notification about that.  Why exactly do you want to do this?

Of course you can leave the thread open and wait for answers
Lets hope someone can write a new code about this

Yes, I'm aware of this possibility as well, which was also suggested and discussed in the thread poll I placed in my first message I think. But in a topic that gets pages of answers in a span of a week, people might find it hard to follow discussions so they might just want to un-watch the topic yet I think they would be interested in if someone was answering them by quoting. Some members are following through all sent messages yet some are rarely logging in and I'm trying to keep them in the loop.
