Re: Malware Detected! HELP!
Hello,
I suggest thatyou upgrade to AVG, or Avast if you desire for something free.
Forumotion is actually virus free, and so is the facebook forum site, I have checked it for myself, nothing is detected on both i) Avast Free ii) Symantic End Point 2009 - Both on a school network, the site is safe.
You are most likely receiving a false posative. You may also be receiving a virus from another site you may be running.
Are you running the facebook forum, with another website.
Your AV protection should not be affecting your downloading - Is your proventing you from downloading altogether, or just this one file?

Re: Malware Detected! HELP!
It (the malware alert) only appears when I open facebook forum. It goes to the portal and then redirects alert.
Downloading is fine...I don't have any trouble downloading anything.

Re: Malware Detected! HELP!
It could be a scam. About a year ago, I was getting a lot of pop up messages saying my computer was full of malware and there was more but I can not remember what is was (It was something likes this ______ objects.) The messages said that I could get a free scan of my computer. I always deleted the messages before they could do something. The first one started the scan before I noticed it. When it finished, a page opened that had my computer's information.

Re: Malware Detected! HELP!
Hello.
I took a look at your baord and here's what I discovered : You've added icons in many sections. BUT, you didn't even re-host them ! That's called bandwidth theft !
The website that's mentioned in the warning comes from your planet icon you placed in "World issues".
So, the solution is simple : Don't hotlink from the original websites, rehost your pics before using them !
I tell you why : For many website, they have a monthly bandwidth limit. And when this bandwidth is exceeded, wether the website is deactivated until the next month OR the webmaster has to pay for the extra bandwidth.
For example, if a pic weights 10 KB and the webmaster pays one cent for each KB. Then someone hotlinks this pic on another site.
If the pic is viewed just once, the webmaster pays 10 cents
If the pic is viewed 10 times, the webmaster pays 100 cents, which means one dollar
If the pic is viewed 100 times, the webmaster pays ten dollars !
And so, if several pics of a same website are hotlinked, this multiplies the bandwidth cost and so, this can kill websites by making them close down for bandwidth exceed because the webmaster cannot pay the extra bandwidth usage.
So, that's why hotlinking is forbidden unless the website explicitely allows it. And that's also why there are webmasters who protect their images with a .htaccess to display a "No hotlink" replacement pic instead of the actual pic, in order to prevent bandwidth theft.
So, if you use a pic taken from the web, host it on Imageshack, photobucket, tinypic or whatever, as long as it's an image host.
