Nonexistent user occupying a username
Hello, all.
I was trying to register an account at this forum with the username cordelia. When I filled out the Registration form, I was given this message:
I had previously used the same username on a different forum hosted by actifforum, but I doubt that has anything to do with this. Other members of that forum have successfully registered at the new forum with the same username; it only seems to be "cordelia" that's having any problems. For the sake of trying, I used my login info from the other forum and tried the "Forgot my password" form, to get a message of The e-mail address you supplied does not match the one listed for that username. When I tried logging in (even with just the username and a blank password), I get You have specified an incorrect or inactive username, or an invalid password.
Do you have any ideas what could be causing this/what to do to fix it? Did something on the administrative side go wrong?
Thank you for your time! I hope I didn't do anything wrong in posting this.

However, no such user shows up on the Members list, even when I searched for it (message: Sorry, but no such user exists.). I have spoken to the administrator of the forum and she also confirmed that there is no user with the name.Sorry, but this username has already been taken.

Re: Nonexistent user occupying a username
Ask the admin to check in AP > Users and groups > Inactive users.
If the nick exist there tell him to delete it.

Thank you for the suggestion, Nera! I have asked the admin to do that and hopefully that will fix it!

Re: Nonexistent user occupying a username
The admin says she tried looking in the inactive users already, and that this username wasn't on the list. So I have no idea what might be going on there.

EDIT: I was able to create an account with a different username, and then log in and then change the username to what I wanted. I still don't know what was causing the original problem, but at least my specific case has been solved. So thanks again for your time!
