Changes Linked images

Hello there,

I'd like to edit the image/thumbnail displayed when adding a link on Facebook or sharing via mobile.

Currently the Avatar for the admin profile is shown on Facebook with title not displayed on forum.

A resolution would be appreciated please.

Hello,

Usually Facebook will show the banner of the site if you have one. If not it will load the first image that shows on the site.

Nevertheless if you want a specific image to show you can try adding this to your Overall_header template where the first set of meta tags is.

Code:

<meta property=”og” content="Copy and paste image url here" />

Just replace 'Copy and Paste image here with the url of the image you want to appear. Bare in mind the image has to be a minimum of 200px x 200px or it won't show on FB at all. Keep in mind this code will also change the image across all the major social media platforms.

Also bare in mind this change can often take a week or two to show up on Facebook and other social media platforms

I going to, Display Templates General overall_header, but I don't see the code as described above.

Yes SLGray is correct, I meant replace 'Copy And Paste Image url here' with the url of the image you want.

If you provide me with the image you would like to use plus your 'Overall_Header' template (in code tags), I would be happy to add both for you. Then all you would have to is replace your overall_header with the modified one and then publish.

I have added your code as described but as you say may take a little time to activate.

Yes it could take a couple weeks in my experience. Keep us updated.

Make sure you bump this once a week until you know it worked, so that it doesn't get auto pruned to the garbage.

My guess is Facebook has not updated the image yet.

Indeed, no changes on fb so far.

When you modified the template, did you save the changes and publish the modified template?

Could you post the template in codes here please? I will verify the code is in there correctly.

however, all Forumotions forums have this meta tag and you can change the default image in the Adminstration Panel not need to add in the template has no goal this because the system is the same as any website - in a social network - will display:
- a prominent image and title
- a description
- the domain name


But if you add yours will have priority if the image does not exist go directly to the automatic image of Forumotion and the image will always be the same

@HBFL- I just realized it did not work the first time, I made a rookie mistake and didn't recheck my code before I posted it for you. I meant to put property="og:image" not "og". I can't believe I didn't notice that !

That was my bad and I apologize! The code that Pedx posted should work. Can you confirm it is working now for you?

I'll have another look over the info and let ya know asap.
