First topic message reminder :

Brand new servers for better performances

Dear users,

We are going to replace some Forumotion servers, so we can offer you better performances.
This manipulation is harmless for your forums. Only a few slowdowns can be encountered during the process when browsing your forums.

Update : The techs are still working to solve all issues regarding the servers change, please notify me of all remaining bugs/glitches you may encounter, apart from you forum not being accessible.

For people getting Error 500 (Server error) it's most commonly to do with your templates.
The solution is to simply re-publish the template overall_header_new.

Best,
Forumotion Team

If we had no updates, then we would be back to the very beginning of forumation.

They are well aware of the problems. Complaining that this sucks is of no use to anyone.
I guess I don't drink the brainwashing kool-aid that you're apparently drinking.

I managed to get a short statement into the homepage message of my two boards before I lost access to the ACP. Thank goodness for that, because we are ALL going to have a lot of work to do once forumotion completes yet another botched "update".

I already noticed that ALL the links of gallery images have been changed, no doubt due to the server change that forumotion never warned us about. Guess what? When this "update" is complete, if forumotion doesn't fix the links, we will all need to manually change these links for every gallery image displayed on our boards! Yippee!!!

At this point I'm waiting to see how badly my boards will be broken after this (apparently non-beta-tested) "update". This sucks.

All forums I went to were down and it took restarting my router to get them to show up but even now they keep going offline and online. This morning pms were not working for everyone and I also noticed that some members can't get on the forum but others can. It keeps saying link broken! When will this be over and fixed? I am disappointed by this updating not warning us before hand so members of forums don't freak out.

Just how would a forwarning have helped you, with unforeseen problem? Beyond, being able to warn your members of a server update, it would it would not have help at all.

It is hardly brainwashing, telling others they need to chill. But, I don't really expect you to understand. Apparently you prefer personal attacks above common sense.

A forewarning that gallery image links would be broken would have helped a lot. I could have told my members to not upload any images or avatars until after the server change was complete. And I could prepare myself for the hours of work I must do to manually change all the links.

My first post was not a personal attack. Maybe it's just a difference of my being a realist and your being an optimist. Don't know, don't care...except to note that your reply WAS a personal attack.

You mean to tell me, you actually agree with forumotion not providing advance warning of something big like gallery image links being broken? WOW.

Yes I am, the forwarning would not have taken care of the unforseen problems.

I don't believe in constant badgering forumation, when they know there are some problems, and are apparently working on them. Complaining does not fix the problem.

Broken gallery image links was an unforseen problem?

WOW.

Doesn't matter to me now...I just made the necessary changes to my boards to reflect the new gallery image links, then saved the themes. Things are working fine now, and if forumotion reverts to the original links, I can restore the themes I had saved a few days ago when I first heard about the "update".

Oh. Complaining CAN fix problems if there are enough complaints. That's been demonstrated for countless generations. More kool-aid for you, sir?

Same problem on Linux (with Firefox 3.5 or Konqueror). Just get a 'server not found' error. Works on Windows machines OK though, although it keeps logging people out and running slow.

My forum is now super slow and all my new emoticons have disappeared. Just reporting in. Lots of ppl use forumotion and deserve it to be working properly. I got no update so how about at least an email letting us know what is happening so we aren't inundated by members' compaints?

Cant get on my forum, for those members that can get it on, it is very slow, and PM's are not being delivered.

It would have been really helpful if forumotion had sent an email or even a newsletter from the forum, advising us of the change in servers, as from experience, a change in servers will always cause problems.

I would also like to know when it will be fixed.

I totally agree Blofeld, always happens, topics locked and no update. I have been waiting 18 months now for an ap error, but dont even get the courtesy of a response, but that is another matter. Now admin are not here to help sort out the mess with a change of servers. Typical, my members would be up in arms.

I understand that - what must be done, must be done, but still I would've appreciated a mass mail to all forum admins with a notification of what will be done.
That way we would be able to inform our members to expect problems and avoid the massive paranoia that's going on now.
Quite a few of my members cannot access forum and I cannot access them to tell them it's only temporary and nothing to worry about.

Well, hope it'll be done soon.
