Ask Me :D
Hey,
So I thought I'd do one of these 'ask me' threads that we see on different forums.
Feel free to ask me anything, within reason. If I deem a question too personal then I reserve the right to skip it....or make a sarcastic reply.

It is, but I decided to make my own as the other one wasn't too active and I was ocassionally getting PMs with people asking me about my time on FM, who I was etc, so I decided to do a separate thread.

Yes, I know the thread did exist, I actually was the one who campaigned for that thread along with some of the other staff.

Ace 1 wrote:@derri where did you get the name "Derri"?
@Ace 1 My real name is Derri, originally I had another username with Derri written in it, some might be able to find out what it was but when I started semi regularly visiting the support forum, I had it changed, because I hated typing it out every time.
developer.ryan wrote:@Derri how do you feel when I got to this level "Manager"

Are you asking me how I felt? @developer.ryan when I got the the level manager? Well I was happy, but to be honest I don't think I've changed because of it. I know I'm slightly more confident but when you do this for a long time you do become more confident naturally.I also went through the ranks, I started as a reviewer, changed teams to the support moderator group and then finally to Manager in August 2014
It was an exciting time.

@Brandon_g Are we talking fruit pies or meat pies?
One of my friends created a forum on forumotion and once I left that I decided to try and create my own. I then moved away from FM for awhile and then another friend made a forum and I helped out on that. Once that was over with I didn't visit for awhile and then at the start of 2013 I decided to start helping out 'full time'.

In the UK we don't usually use the term pies in relation to fruit, we use different terminology. However to simply answer your question I'd go with apple pie.

A pop up is something that will appear when you refresh the page or go onto a page. An example would be if I sent you a private message you had popups turned on in your Brower and in your profile settings you'd receive a pop up.

Oh yeah thats right, you guys have a different form english from us in the states. You guys call chips crisps and soccer futball (but so does every other country except us).
So what is the terminiology for "fruit" pies over there?
Re: Ask Me :D
Generally it depends because in a lot of areas pie is becoming used a lot. However traditionally we used the term tart, so for example - Apple Tart is basically a version of apple pie. Crumble was also used as well to describe a fruit pie so <insert fruit name> crumble.
Oh and its football is the way we spell it. We also call fries, Chips.
We also have different spelling such as Colour and Color - Labour, Labor etc
We also pronounce things differently.
I also know Wal-Mart sells ice tea in America in the same kind of bottle we'd use to store oil or fuel.

Okay @Derri
These are my random questions. Feel free to skip question/s you don't want to answer.
1. If you could choose anywhere in the world, where would you prefer you live? And would you love to visit Philippines?
2. What is something you find hard to stop once you have started?
3. Do you see yourself being an Admin of the support forum forumotion?
4. If you were given a chance to change or add one thing here in support forum, what would it be?
5. Describe my avatar.
That's all for now. Have a great day!

1) Well I spend a lot of my free time on the support forum as I'm volunteer but when I'm not on the support forum you can usually find me gaming on my PS4 or hanging out with friends.
2) Yes I have, I tried ProBoards at one point and also FreeForums but I never really liked any of them.

1) I don't know really, I'm pretty happy in Scotland, weather is terrible but I kind of like it like that. Would I ever visit the Philippines? Yeah sure, I've got nothing against visiting the Philippines.
2) I'll have to say playing certain video games, once I start I have a tendency to overkill.
3) No,
Not because I don't think I could do the job, the fact is I could. Its that under the current way the English Support Forum works we can't have a General Administrator.
4) I've already implemented several things on the support forum, so I kind of already done that.
5) It kind of looks like a terrible hipster.

@Derri, why can't we have a General Admin?

Also if you had the chance to come back to FreeForums and become a staff member would you do it?

Why can't we have a general admin?
Well at the heart of it we don't necessarily need one. @Buttercup is an excellent leader on these forums and is very interactive with us and we always know we can speak to her if we have suggestion or issues and she's always happy to listen and work on a solution and therefore we don't necessarily need one because Buttercup does fill the role of Pro Admin and General Admin nicely.
Also The Godfather one of the Managers at Forumotion doesn't want one as of right now as he feels the staff work effectively under the current way the staff works.
If I had the chance to return to FreeForums? No, I would not. I never really used the service much and from what I can remember I didn't really like the community. I'm really happy being here.

Re: Ask Me :D
Derri, do Forumotion Managers have access to the Administration Panel? Or just the admins? Also if FreeForums.org upgraded to PHPBB3 would you go back to it?

Probably I've just constructed involute sentence in number 4, you've answered it seriously. I just mean doing a thing that may go against or violate the rules. *kidding aside. Thank you for the answers!
