so many adverts popping up
Ok so its a bit of a weird one this.
i have a forum www.virtualracer.forumotion.co.uk and when i visit its fine yet when anyone else visit they say they get tons of ads popping up on the screen, some they cannot get out of without closing down the internet.
Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?

Re: so many adverts popping up
Do they just appear, or do they appear after someone tries to log in or press a link?

Re: so many adverts popping up
When they arrive at the site they are instantly given a pop up that they cannot exit, the only way to get away from the page is to shut down the internet
Re: so many adverts popping up
Hello,
Can you give us a link of the pages? And a screenshot if you can.
Thank you

Re: so many adverts popping up
Hello,
You can take a screenshot from mobile phone or tablet (atleast android ones). All you have to do is hold down the power/lockscreen key and the home/return to home screen button in the middle for a few seconds and it should take a screenshot. On some devices the combination to hold down may be the power/lockscreen button and volume , but phones and tablets can take screenshots. May you take a screenshot of the issue and upload it to us please?
Forumotion is mobile friendly, it has a mobile version that can work to basic forum stuff.
I use my phone to access my forum, this support forum and other forumotion forums with no problem, so it seems like something with your forum specificly that causing the issue.
-Brandon
Edit: Ok, I just visited your forum on my phone from both the mobile version and the classic version.
The mobile version came up fine without any issues: .
When I tried to view from classic version the first time though, it appeared to load fine for a second, but then I was re directed to this link: http://pintbin.com/offers/roulette/samsung/EN/?s1=19484&s2=jUS24SQR02RHM01003V00GJK100J0S010MAN1O9bf8VZ002L00J0S00 and given the pop up you are talking about (presumably): . I was able to get out of this and get back to your forum by hitting the back button on my phone a couple times which brought me back to your forum without an issue. After the first time I viewed it on classic version I tried to to duplicate the problem again by refreshing the page multiple times and closing the tab then re opening but couldnt get it to happen again until I opened your forum in a new cognito tab. It appears the problem is a re direction that happens when someone views your forum from classic version for the first time.
@Leviosa , I am not sure what the re direct is or if it is a global thing or just stationery to just this forum, but the re direct looks like it could be cause by an of ad or something, but it also could be something else.
The link I am re directed to where I get the pop up I included above. May you have a look into this please to see what is causing it?

Re: so many adverts popping up
i have looked through my forums options and i have nothing that will make this happen, it does seem to be a problem when you visit until you get to the actual site then it seems to work but if you clear your cookies it happens again
it must be something at forumotions end
it must be something at forumotions end
Re: so many adverts popping up
Wait so the problem happens on the mobile version for you then?
That is very wierd, I didn't have any problem with accessing your forum on the mobile version from my when I was visiting your forum as seen in my screenshot: .
I only got a problem and got re directed to a pop up when I attempted to view your site from classic version, at which point the first time I did that, I got re directed and got this pop up at the place I was re directed to: .
That was the only problem and popup/re direction I got when I visited your site on classic version and it only happened once on classic version then didnt happen again no matter how many times I re freshed and stuff. The only way I could get it to happen again was by using a in cognito tab, then I could get the problem to occur on classic version once again.
I had no problems on the mobile version of your site though.
Your saying that your problem is the opposite and it happens only on the mobile version but everything is fine on the classic version, when you can get to the classic version? Do I understand that correctly?
If so, that is weird how the problem occurs differently for you and me, it happens on mobile version for you and classic for me and it seems we both get 2 different pop ups. Strange, very strange.
It does though that the pop ups are being through ads though so it is probably fm's end. FM's advertising campaign marketers and managers must still be having trouble with pop ups and re directions. @Leviosa it seems the problem with re directs from the ads are still not solved.

Re: so many adverts popping up
This isn't meant to sound aggressive, but to be blunt the state of advertisements on mobile -- even desktop -- is ridiculous. The ads are out of control, deceptive, and even on the line of malicious. If your ad partners are allowing such tactics then I think it's time you rethought who you're partnering with, because as you can see above your choices to make revenue are negatively impacting your clients. This is the very reason why people are using ad blockers now days, because of malicious advertisement tactics like this..
Sorry to be critical, but I'm extremely disappointed with the choices Forumotion has made in terms of its ad partners.

Re: so many adverts popping up
just to let you know i have also had this problem on the main sites with ad's but not on sites that pay for ad's to be removed.
This has been a problem foe about 3 months now and its not just mobile phones and tablets its laptops also.
ok i don't get sent to a site but i get a popup of a site that has nothing to do with my site or anything to do with the site im looking at.
The ad's blocker installed in your browser is not even stopping this

Re: so many adverts popping up
Hello,
We're working to solve the situation this week, on mobile and desktop! We will change some ad partners to find a correct situation for everybody.
You're right but you need to know that manage global ad partners is a real challenge for us. The premium ad partners have strict rules and when they detect some contents on one topic (adult, download, ...), they blacklist all the forums. We already tried premium partners like Amazon, ... and we had problems because of the forums contents.
And we're working with our historic ad partners. For many years , we have no problem with them. But since a few weeks / months, they cause us many problems: intempestive redirections on mobile, adult contents on desktop, social engineering contents, ...
At the end of this week, we hope that the advertising problems finally be over!

Re: so many adverts popping up
@The Godfather so, until it gets solved, why don't you disable all ads globally on all forums(it's just 1 week).
I get some loop ads with confirmations to close down page, but you can't close it because confirmation runs out quite fast so I have to kill browser from task manager.

Re: so many adverts popping up
@The Godfather I can imagine that it's a tough situation to manage, but it's good to hear that something is being done about these advertisement issues. Hopefully all will be resolved by the time you mentioned. Thanks for taking the time to reply and best of luck.

Can you send me the link address of the banner please? Without this data, I can't ask to the partner to block the banner.
About the redirections' issue on mobile and desktop, is it better on your forum please?

Re: so many adverts popping up
Found this thread while looking for information about popups taking over screens. I'm not a moderator, just a forum user -- http://thedalhouse.forumactif.org/ -- and I have had full-screen popups appear that say "Pay attention; you are now going to see nude photos of women in your area". It has happened when I click on a link to see the last post in a thread; it has also happened when I haven't clicked anything at all, or clicked to scroll down a page. I have reported it to the moderator. I don't know if anyone in this department manages such things, or whether it's all on the individual forum admins, but in case it's the former, I'm likely to soon be an ex-user because it looks like your service is booby-trapped and I don't want to spend hours running antivirus checks and laptop backups every time it happens.

It is an issue that is global. Forumotion is trying to fix the issue with ads. They just need the information (links, screenshots, etc.) about the ads so they can figure out a solution.
Exactly your issue sounds more like this one: https://help.forumotion.com/t145609-only-topic-ads-redirection-mobile-pc .
