Forumactif Edge - A Free Modern and Responsive Forum Theme

Hello everyone,

Since November 2015 I've been working on developing a new "forum version" for Forumotion forums that's modern and responsive. Today I've recently published the production release of this software and would like to share it with all of you who are looking for a more modern design that's also mobile-friendly.

Update v1.0.1

Version 1.0.1 of Forumactif Edge is now available ! This release fixes a few issues that were missed during the production release.

• Fixed major sticky footer bug on mobile devices and some browsers.
  
• Fixed breadcrumbs exceeding page width on mobile.
  
• Fixed unusually large overflow that was visible while splitting a topic with a lot of posts.

Update v1.0.2

Version 1.0.2 of Forumactif Edge is now available ! See the details below for more information on what has changed in this release.

• Added title attribute to classical recent topics widget so that the title can still be read via tooltip, even when it overflows the container and gets cut off.
  
• Added additional check to ensure that the founder is logged into the admin panel before the control panel can be used. This fixes an error some founders encountered with the security option "Confirm password to administration access"
  
• Added margin between "go to page" link in pagination so it's not touching the page buttons.
  
• Fixed alignment of pagination elements so the buttons are aligned to the right.
  
• Fixed display of image resizer text. The icons were out of alignment on some scripts, such as RTL.
  
• Fixed a major bug in the theme selector which would occur for some members when the board language was changed. (this error prevented some scripts in all.js from functioning)
  
• Corrected various translations for the Arabic language. (thanks to Michael_vx & Gin NeOs on FMD)

Everything is excellent except the viewtopic_body template. it looks somehow old and not good for eye especially the colors for group members. It should be more like this forums viewtopic_body

Hi, thanks for your feedback !

The colors for groups are completely up to you, so you may want to choose a color that's good for your "eye" or consider modifying the title bars so they're not as sharp. (I can assist with that ) As for making it like this forum's viewtopic_body, I'd rather try to keep Forumactif Edge somewhat "unique" and not copy an existing design. Do remember you're free to adapt the look anyway you wish, if you prefer one design over another.

FA Edge is meant to be more colorful and less cold than the theme for Forumotion. So it may take some getting used to.

It is on github @shakib al hasan . Ange stated that on every release version post so far.

@shakib al hasan what Brandon mentioned is true. Forumactif Edge is NOT a hitskin theme, it's a heavily modified custom theme that's like an entirely new forum version. As such, it requires that the files be hosted on github where they can be freely taken and updated without any problems. If you'd like to install Forumactif Edge or learn more, please see the installation page of our wiki :

It's not on hitskin because :
- Hitskin does NOT give you the freedom to update your themes
- Hitskin does NOT allow you to upload custom templates, js, etc..

The colors for groups are completely up to you, so you may want to choose a color that's good for your "eye" or consider modifying the title bars so they're not as sharp. (I can assist with that ) As for making it like this forum's viewtopic_body, I'd rather try to keep Forumactif Edge somewhat "unique" and not copy an existing design. Do remember you're free to adapt the look anyway you wish, if you prefer one design over another.

FA Edge is meant to be more colorful and less cold than the theme for Forumotion. So it may take some getting used to.

lol yeah I was debating on adding it here or there, and decided on this forum since it's more of an ongoing project and a lot deeper than just a forum theme.

Thanks ! I have some more things planned for the next release of Forumactif Edge. Such as new control panel features and a few more additions. At the moment I'm working on a side project, but once that's finished it's back to development of Edge.

Not so modern but it is elegant. Well done!

You may not need to manually pick each color, you can use the html input color (or Color Picker plugin) and Lighten / Darken Color to create different shades.

I feel people are more likely to choose colors when they have a preset palette in front of them and an easily identifiable name, still I do want to give people the option to choose the colors for themselves. So thanks a lot for these links ! I'll look into adding another option to the list for choosing a custom color, I just need to get the math down first.

The theme palettes consist of 5 shades :

At least this is the formula I've followed for making the themes. I might be able to use another method for custom themes, like the one you provided from CSS tricks.
