Best Buy is just one of many sites that you can not link to on your forum.  There is no place to exactly see the list, but you will know when you try to post a link to one of the sites on your forum.  It is not really about spam.

Exactly what happens when you try to post a link to Best Buy?

I dont think its because of it being from bestbuy. And we had a similar issue for a while until we realized what it was.

Can this member post links at all? I bet you have the setting for links to be disabled until they reach a certain post count?

It will say 'you haven't got the rights to access this page'. I have been down this road before, specifically with best buy as well.

The explaination I was given was that it was a site Spammers and Spambots linked to alot. That said, I think FM blacklisted it, not because Best buy is bad, but because spambots and spammers like to use it to spam forums and sites alot.

In any case, regardless, there is nothing we can do. FM will not remove it from the blacklist. Apparently once a site is on it, it doesnt come off.

I tried, failed.

Sorry, but no one will be able to link to anything on best buy on Forumotion forums.

If you want @TamDonCo , I can link you to my old topic where I had the same issue and it was explained by our former pro admin, Buttercup that it was blacklisted and that will not be un blacklisted. She also explained that she couldnt disclose to us a list of what is on the blacklist. I am sure we will never know exactly what every site on it is.

Edit: Here is the link to my old topic: https://help.forumotion.com/t139908-receiving-you-haven-t-got-the-rights-to-access-this-page .

You see I have an issue with that. Making a blacklist of things that cant be posted on our own forums? Why dont they make the blacklist individual per forums and let the forum owners decide on what they want blacklisted instead....

I dont know. I would imagine though, that if FM created a black list, then it is for reason. After all, FM is also responsible to ensure the safety of their network and servers and stuff and they must do this whatever means they deem fit.

We cant see what goes on serverside and what effects stuff have on the server, they can.

Regardless though of whether any of us like it or not, it is not going away and is here to stay. While we do not know what is on the list, so far the only one I have run into that is on the list is best buy. It is not like it causes major problems, like its not like its every other site blocked or whatever.

Bottomline: I would like to think, that whatever is on that blacklist, is on there for a reason. Whether or not we like it or not, it is something FM deemed nessecary to safeguard its network, servers and ALL our forums.
