Lost everything- access to forum & forumotion
Hello there,
I hope you can point me in the right direction. I checked the frequently asked questions and it appears many others have lost access to their forums along with access to Foromotion.
Please don't be too quick to bite if there are topics I am meant to address this in as I have a mild intellectual impairment sometimes things are understood easily. What do you suppose actually caused this to occur? Could my forum had been hacked? It was only five days ago that I last went on my forum without any issues.
I appreciate and hope that any one of you are able to assist.
Kindest regards

Hello,
If you are talking of the forum which is indicated in your profile, I can access it without any issue. Could you be more precise ? Any error message, login problem... ?

Re: Lost everything- access to forum & forumotion
Thank you Walt for such a swift and rapid reply.
You are correct, my forum is http://assilemsrealm.forumotion.net/ and at first everything seemed to look perfectly fine when I went to log in and have a play around after being away at a convention the last five days. I realised something was amiss when I clicked on the log in and nothing occurred, no error message it would only reload the home page and I'd try again through the log in. Only after three times I went down to log in on my admin panel to find it disappeared- the words for the link and spotted the words "forum locked". I had never seen those words it made me think whoah did I click something the other day by accident.
So I strolled over to forumotion, and I regret I should've kept in contact and chatted with everyone here more often but found when I logged in on my forums username it wouldn't work. I facepalmed and thought maybe it's still under the former username that was an alias and fictional name so no one would know the real me when my forum had 30 people in its first creation year back in 2009. That didn't work, and it wasn't till I did the lost password for forumotion and on my own forum that I realised there was a big problem. It was saying that my email address wasn't known, and when I tried to reactivated my password I still got nowhere on my forum.

Re: Lost everything- access to forum & forumotion
Good question, that was exactly what came to my mind when it happened- Is my email still working, or had that too failed. Thankfully the email I used for the forum still works but as I hadn't been on foromotion for many years I never spotted the handy advice that recommended that the creation email should be different to the profile email that members could contact me on.
So I've been able to get every email when I clicked on "lost password send me email' and I've entered the password provided and tried to log in here and there. Neither worked and registered a new name and email to be able to contact you. Unfortunately I'm the only administrator of my forum.
It seemed simple to had changed the password and log in. Hopefully the baffleness of the situation is something you know something about. I appreciate the replies

Well, I think you saw these words :
That's a normal thing, it is the legend for the forum images, don't worry about it.
So you can't log in your forum, and you've lost your previous account on this support forum ? That's 2 different issues, the first one is the more important I guess You should read that topic, and follow the steps in order to get a new password :

Re: Lost everything- access to forum & forumotion
Thanks heaps, I went to the link first off, but the case's are a little confusing. When it says foundation email case 5, does it mean finding the very first email that says welcome to forumotion? Or is it saying if you have no access to the email you have linked to your forum administration area, then to contact your email provider.
With case 5, I don't need to go to hotmail as I have access to the email, I can try finding my first email but that's likely to show my original username and the password hasn't changed, nor has the email address since 2009

Nope, we call "foundation email" the email address you have used to create the forum. If you opened your forum with the email johndoe@gmail.com, thats your foundation email.
If you can still connect to that email inbox, a staff member of this support forum will be able to send you a new password for your forum (if you give the good foundation email, of course). Am I clear ?
Re: Lost everything- access to forum & forumotion
Omg! Yay thanks heaps! Truly thanks so much. Explained it perfectly and in some way I can breathe a sigh of relief, afterall it could be worst, I could've lost that email as well
I'll have to have a chat in about 8-10 hours from now to one of the staff members, but at least I can head to sleep thinking maybe I haven't lost it all, don't give up yet just yet. Cheers

Well, if you know your foundation email, you should try to log in the founder utils : https://www.forumotion.com/utils (if you remember it, you should try the first password you used on the forum).
If it works, you will be able to reset the safety option which prohibit the new password sending for admins/mods.

Pleased to report that I am back on my forum.
With the great help of SL Gray, it appears that with the recent update to the iphone, it messed up a lot of areas. Also I've changed my password to be more stronger with the simple addition of a !, * or even dollar sign it makes the password not easy but more stronger and less likely to be guessed.
I now know that it isnt the end of the world unless bruce willis drops by haha.
Thanks again to SL gray and walt for all their help.
