Description of problem
Hi,I would like to know if it is possible to change the terms of service that is automatically provided by forumotion when people register in my forum.
I want to change some lines of the provided terms of service and add more information.
Thanks
Re: Change terms of service
Hello,
You can't modify the default text that is already there. You can add to it though by going to ACP (Admin panel)-->General-->Rules&FAQ-->Additional Rules. There you can add your lines to it, but it will usually only appear at the bottom of it.
Other then that method there is no other way to add on to the tos and you arent allowed to change, modify, or remove any of the default text thats already there.

Hi,
Actually you can. In the template called Agreement, look for this:
Edit:Brandon, that's not the tos, they are just some rules for the users of the forum.

Please do not post things that could break the Terms of Service of Forumotion.Wolfuryo wrote:Hi,

Re: Change terms of service
This has come up before and we was told that you should not change the TOS on the main page you can only add to it.
I can't find the post about this but i know that we was talking about this before and The godfather i think it was or buttercup told us it's part of the TOS we hold and this will break the TOs if you remove it

Trust us, it is against the tos to modify the tou page at sign up by using any other means other then the one I said above. This is because what is on the default tos is legally obligated to be there. If you anyone tries to modify the default tou on the sign up page using any means but the one in the admin panel their forum could face litigation problems and potentially be shut down.
We dont have time to hunt down the exact topic it is in, but trust us it has come up before and is against the tos.

Re: Change terms of service
Whatever you say. What if I make a code that automatically skips that page and use it on my forum? Would that be against your tos?

Yes, it definitelly would be. Like I said that is there cause it is legally obligated to be. You can not modify the text, you can not skip the page you are not allowed to do anything with that page other then add text using the admin panel in the place I mentioned in my first post.

Well, one more reason to use myBB. I think someone should close this topic.

Re: Change terms of service
You can add more rule via ACP -> General -> Rules and FAQ -> Addition rules guys so it won't break the rule, instead of changing it without any reason, even when you have permission.

Well modifying the original tou page shouldnt be that big an issue. Most forum service providers all have similar ones. You can always make a topic with your own forum rules and tou and put the link to it on the default one using the method I said above.

Yeah I already pointed out that part of the admin panel and that you can add on to the default tou that way.
