Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
First topic message reminder :
Please please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place.
I'm fairly new to forumotion. Been learning. But there is one thing when posting.
In the group I'm admin in We use headers for some posts.
When going to edit the header all you see is the html, you can also view it in the preview but can't edit there.
As you see in the screenshot below.
My question is..... Is there a way that we can see our work to edit it? It's very hard to edit
the text in html forum.
I know in other forums they do have the option to see html or view it to edit it.
Can anything be done to be able to edit it in view forum?
Thank you for your time. My site is HERE
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
If html is allowed then I shouldn't have any problems. Well I don't in posting it.
It's just the editing. can't see.
Is there a way you can make the preview and editing place to?
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
I have made a report to ask if this is right or if we have a bug

Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
You guys are fantastic. I’m truly an amazing on the quick responses here. I can’t wait to fully move over to this forum.
I really hope this can be fixed. I don’t know how else to
Do these headers. The owner is in her 70’s and so sweet and she is so use to being able to see the headers to edit them. Html would be way to hard for her.
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
Thank you for your kind words I will get back to you as soon as one of our head office tech team send me a reply.
I hope it will be tomorrow as our head office is now closed for the night and we all work from home for free.

Just an update:
I have had some news back from our head office they was not 100% sure what I was talking about so I have sent them a screen shot of the problem step by step to help them understand me better LOL
As it's now the weekend I don't see it getting looked at until Monday or Tuesday But I will keep you posted on the progress.

Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
Sadly that would take lots of recoding on our side but I will try and get this looked at as soon as I can,
Problem is we all work from home for free and none of us other then the Pro Admin work in the head office in France so we have a small window open to talk to the team and as you know.
Things are busy here and on all the other support forums we have and one member of staff doing all the tickets we make from our end.

Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
Hi, @Dyane, it's me, timber
When you say that you want to edit the header, are you saying you want to change the header image? Or are you referring to changing out the background tiles for the nested tables?
FYI, I have also created these nested tables here at Forumotion and when I am in WYSIWIG view, I only see the HTML, so I think that's normal for Forumotion. If you were to create your nested tables in BBCode then you would be able to see your images in WYSIWIG view. But I have to say that working with BBCode tables can be very tricky. I find it easier to make the nested tables in HTML and then edit the message text and images with BBCode.
If you use BBCode for the image (instead of using HTML), then you will see the image in WYSIWIG view.

Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
Yes I know know and see but it's only part of what you see. The owner needs to see it like you can in the preview. The owner of the group can’t do headers like that.
I have put bbcodes for the images. and it just shows the one little block instead around the whole page like you see in preview. We both tried the tables and don’t like it and is a pain. Lol
In the groups that we were in we were always able to see everything in html like you would see
When you post it. You can see how the whole header looks in preview as I posted in here.
Just wish that preview was able to edit. Was hoping with reading posts in here with making codes. That a code could be made to be able to edit the preview.
If not, I’m going to be doing all the work in the group then and that means it’s going to be real hard
to move to forumotion and I wanna really move here.
Thanks thou for your help Timber
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
sadly the system is not set up to see HTML in WYSIWIG mode you can use the ACP to see this but not in the main posts
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
I know this is going to be a dumb question. But what is ACP? Lol
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
Those pics I posted is not in the admin panel.
It is regular a post,
I copied and pasted my header. So I know what it already looks like.
But if I were to go edit I can’t see it as I see it posted. It’s all html.
I can also see it when I click preview in my post. The only problem is you can’t edit the preview.
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
That is what APE was saying. In posts on the forum, it shows the code, but in the AP, it show the image.

Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
But I’m not doing anything in AP thou this all just in general posting.
When you go to post you have preview and send I hit preview and I can see how it is but can’t edit the preview.
This is the first forum that you can’t edit in preview
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
You can edit it, but you just do not see how it looks when you preview or send it.

Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
Lol I know you can edit it. But it’s hard to edit when it’s html.
If the preview was able to edit then it wouldn’t be a issue because we
would be able to see what we need to edit.
I feel I’m not explaining this right, but I don’t know how else to explain it.
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
I understand what you are saying. We are saying that the editor is not really setup to see html code while in WYSIWYG mode.

Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
I was really hoping there was a code that could of been made to make the preview accessible to edit
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
No sadly there is no code out there that will do this as it has to be done on our server side and that will take to long to add in the system.Dyane wrote:I was really hoping there was a code that could of been made to make the preview accessible to edit
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
Was wondering could it be at the forums end that’s having issues? because in all reality I should be able to
See what I do with the editor button.
Re: Editing post with the use of HTML but in view forum
No it's not we have never had this work as far as I know it will only work in preview and you can't edit it on the preview.
I have tested it here and in 5 other forums and it will not work.
Sadly as much as I would like to say we can do some thing (sadly this is not the case ) we just don't have the tools in our editor sorry.
