Six months are now well passed. Is there any way I can take over ownership without cooperation from previous admins (no response to emails / PMs) .
I have been in touch with a few members that I have email addresses for and they are up for it.

I am assuming this is the forum in which you asked for the password, right? http://ryansengineforum.forumotion.com/
Absolute correct. Now logged in a Admin.

You can change it if you want, but it will not change it in the utilities.

Sorry - new to all this. What do you mean by ' but it will not change it in the utilities.'
Am I safer just to leave the password as it is?

Re: Taking ownership of forum
If you change the founder's account on the forum, it will not change it in the utilities. This means after you create the forum the creation login information is stored in the utilities. Since Forumotion changed the founder account, the information in the utilities should have been changed, too.
