Taking ownership of forum
Re my previous post (now archived)
https://help.forumotion.com/t151959-how-to-take-ownership-of-a-forum
Six months are now well passed. Is there any way I can take over ownership without cooperation from previous admins (no response to emails / PMs) .
I have been in touch with a few members that I have email addresses for and they are up for it.

Re: Taking ownership of forum
@Paull Am I correct if I understood well, you are not the owner of the website, but you want to take it since the previous Admin no longer use it and forum is dead? And you want that address for your forum?

Correct. Domain name expired and admins did not renew. No response for over six months. I would like to take over as admin and then get a new domain name. I presume I have to get a new domain name in order for domain servers to point to the site?
Will need some help to do that when the time comes.

Hi Brandon,
See para 3 - that implies that I need the cooperation of a former admin - no response to email or PM

That's if there is an admin other then the forum sho is still active. You can send the pm to start the process. Worst that can happen is that head office says no.

Definitelly do not listen to what he just said, hacking is illegal and any attempts to hack into our systems will result in a ban from our services and possible legal action as well.
@System32 in the future please do not post answers like this, as it can be seen as promoting hacking, which is something we can not and will not support on here. Like I said it is also illegal and could land people in legal trouble as well.

Re: Taking ownership of forum
@brandon_g Understood. To add something. Only a child would try to "hack" something. It is easy to be tracked by police. It is cyber criminal. Only a child can think "they will never catch me" . Someone can do what I just mentioned in educational purpose, and report that in police. Bam ,IP trace and done. Of course I do not support that kind of hacking. The term hacking is very different from what people think it is. But okay, I understand we are talking about cyber criminal.
I am into programming for 9 years and I would never think of doing something like that. I can not be smarter than a team of people who work to catch cyber criminals. I just can't. Only idiot will do that. Again, I understand the massage you just said. No more topic, no more replies like that.
Again, don't do such stupid thing because you will get long time jail sentence for one mistake in life. Think about it.
PS: May I somewhere post some educational tutorials (html, css, js, php, sql) ? If so, where?

Is it HTML / CSS stuff for Forumotion specifically or just in general?
If it is for Forumotion you can use the Community Coding and Analysis Zone
If it is just in general you can try General Chat since Community Coding and Analysis is for Forumotion Forums specifically.

Email received with new password - but doesn't work with my existing ID. Do I use a different ID?

Re: Taking ownership of forum
Try with Admin again and make sure to write yourself down the password that has been sent to you instead of copy/pasting it.
I am assuming this is the forum in which you asked for the password, right? http://ryansengineforum.forumotion.com/

Oops must have typed badly - now logged in a Admin.
Presumably I should now change password to something more memorable?
