Question about the Galery

First topic message reminder :

I have a problem using the gallery: to free up more storage space, I deleted a folder with old images that are no longer needed.
Unfortunately I forgot to see what percentage of storage space this folder took up, but it would have been around 14%.
After deleting this folder, I didn't get the storage space back  
Then I removed single images from another folder, not an entire folder, and then I got the storage space of the deleted images (but not from the folder I deleted).

The overview shows a total of images of 5177, but when I add the images, I count 4548 images.
The folder that I deleted is therefore still added to the total, even though it has been deleted.
I already synchronised the forum, but that didn't help.

I really need the storage space for December, can you help me with this?

I did a test (exactly in the same way as before, so what the problems are):

I made a new category 'Testmap deel oktober' en put 160 images in it (5% of the total)
Total images: 5291 - used storage space: 77%




Then I removed the folder/category:





After removing I went back to the tab Storage and it stil gives 5291 images - used storage space: 77%






So the conclusion is that if you delete a folder / category, you will not get the deleted storage space in return.
Is this really the intention or is this an error in the program?
Because this way you can continue to buy storage space.

The first one (about 14% storage) I think it was last saturday, a few hours before I started this topic (maybe it was friday, but I think it was saturday).

The test (about 5% storage) from the printscreens above, was just 15 minutes before my post.

Not at the first time (folder September) because I assumed that the deleted would be added automatically.
I know what it was about, because I had calculated how we would end up in December and based on consumption in November (October is higher because of Halloween).
It was about 450 images and 14%.

The second time, that was a conscious test, see the print screens above: exact numbers (5% - 160 images) - remaining storage 77% and after deleting the folder.

The intention was that the members have a folder every month where they can store their images.
The folder will be deleted after 3 months in order to get new storage space, but I'm afraid this isn't working how I thought it would

You can not delete pictures from within the backup folder only restore them, when you want to delete pictures you do this by clicking on the galery menu button and there on the bottom you'll find the moderator control buttons, click there on Beheer instead of the Backup map..



There you can delete pictures as much as needed,



you might check if the deleted folder pictures are still visible there, because my understanding is when you delete a category from within the Adminstration panel only the category gets deleted and the pictures end up into the root folder, so therefor the storage space stays the same because the pictures aren't really deleted..

When you delete them the way I showed on the screenshots the storage space gets adapted although the pictures end up in the backup folder they don't count as used space anymore, only when you restore them again the used space get's higher once more..

As you describe it via the moderator control button, I have also deleted images and indeed the space is returned. But because I had to delete an entire folder of about 450 images, I thought it would be more convenient to use it via adm. panel ... and then I got no storage space back (very needed storage space).

As far as I can see, the deleted folders are really nowhere, but I will check today every category and every subfolder for certainty.

I found it!

It is as Tonnykamer says: it has indeed gone somewhere. Not in another folder, not even in the backup folder, but through the moderator control panel I saw all
the pages (265).
There I looked on 'time' and came out in September (folder September removed) and there it was
Now I can delete them in this way, then they will end up in the backup folder, but I will get the storage space for it back.

Did you've setup your garbage can to receive deleted posts automatically? In that case it might be also a place to look for the folders and pictures.. I'm not sure if the garbagecan is connected with the galery too but it's a tip where to look for the vanished stuff..
