Unwanted Guests
I have a private forum, I log into it and each time I do a ton of random guests show up and each time I ban the IP, the same ones keep showing up and wish there was a way to disallow guests to appear on forums, I can't do what I need to in peace due to this going on...
Thanks

Re: Unwanted Guests
Hello @Liberty City
If any one is looking at your forum not logged in they are classed as a guest and banning the IP address will not stop them looking at your home page of your forum even if it's not open to the public.
Sadly there is no way to stop a person looking at your home page even thou you may not have anything for them to look at.
Also note you banning a IP address may be a big mistake as one of them IP addresses may be a member of your forum just not logged in at that time.

Re: Unwanted Guests
Also if you do have it set where only members sees the forum, guests will only see the login boxes on each page that loads.

Re: Unwanted Guests
No, in the past I've had to delete forums due to this issue and it's getting to the point where I can't even have peace to work on my forums due to this issue... It's causing so much stress and getting to the point of stuff that wouldn't be allowed on here, it's that bad
Re: Unwanted Guests
no need to delete anything cause no matter how many visit your page they cant see anything so simple besides the login window
Re: Unwanted Guests
Is it possible to get one of my old forums opened up again after being deleted? I found the orginal link and email for one of them...
Re: Unwanted Guests
you can restore your forum data using the backup option

What exactly has you stressed out about the guests? They can not see your forum, all they will see is the log in page, so there is really nothing to worry about.

Re: Unwanted Guests
Three of my forums were DDoS three times and this is why I would like to deny guests access to my forums.
Re: Unwanted Guests
Well DDos would effect the overall servers, not your forums. There is no way to keep guests out, I mean the web is public. You can password protect it (as you already have) to prevent the forums being read but that's about it.
Our servers can handle a small DDos attack as can most servers. Most sites even big ones get ddosed regularly, servers are built to handle it except in very very large attacks.
I wouldn't worry too much.
