Monetization using paypal

Hello,

I was wondering if we were required to purchase a package to be able to link PayPal donation buttons.

The reason I am unsure is because in the place where you purchase credits and packages, it says “easy monetization of the forum”

Is that to do with PayPal donations etc or custom adverts and things along those lines.

by Monetization this is what Forumotion means, you can read this tutorial: https://help.forumotion.com/t155625-monetization-of-your-forum

To add a custom PayPal donation button there isn't a limitation from Forumotion, you just need to check PayPal terms to see if it fits with your forum contents. Built within your forum, there is a contribution feature, but this option only allows members to directly donate credits, and not money.

You have to have the premium package to use that feature.

What they mean by easy monetization of the forum is being able to place your own ads on the forum. You can add a paypal donation button even with just the free package, you just need to get the embed code for the button from Paypal.

Correct.  YOu can add the code to a widget, in the homepage message, in an announcement that runs under the navbar, etc.
