Is it possible to put registration based on invite codes?

What should I look for or is it even possible to do such thing, I don't mean to give users permission to generate invite codes, I only mean like, have a new field in the registration page where the person needs to exactly have a pre-defined static invite code to be able to register, so to not put the forum under maintenance, but also not allow registration during some periods unless it's confirmed the person is allowed to if they type in the specific code (by code I just mean a specific set of characters, like ALGJE - and I don't mean to have more than one, just one would be enough).

I may be wrong about not having such an option. But the closest options you got already within the Administration Panel are the following:


Administration Control Panel (ACP) >> Users & Groups >> Users Option: New accounts activation : [] Admin

Now, set a new profile field where it can be called "code referral" "invite code" or something along those lines. Then you can make an announcements telling your current members that when to invite to give the following code "joinus11" or something made up but you know its the confirmation code for new users. Make sure the setting for: Necessarily filled ? set to yes. That way it can appear as a field upon registration.


You can add about the invitation code as part of the rules when registering.




I'll continue to look into your matter, but as far as I know it won't be possible unless done via a script, possibly.

Clever, that'll work for what I said, I hoped there was an automatic way of being instantly approved upon typing a valid code, but this way could work too. Thanks
