Two hackers are in COMPLETE control of a site. They've even taken over the head admin account. We can't do ANYTHING to get back the site. So PLEASE help us.

Yes. the problem exists for many.

But what is not clear is what is the best coarse of action.
Do we restore or do we wait it out.

And I see that for some, the restore did not work.

So that issue pretty much wraped up. Now if you go to your site and check both log's and it say's you deleted stuff, or some other admin on your website is listed as making action's on the site then that's different. Some1 you trusted screwed you, but if you loged into your site and you had 0 topic's / section's, nothing then follow what mario said and keep in mind that you have to use the pw you used to login https://www.forumotion.com/en/utils/ after you use the backup feature

No one has screwed me as I am the only admin on the page, and I have not screwed myself by deleting anything. I can't speculate on what the current issue is, but it certainly isn't the result of user error (at least not in my case).

I would definitely NOT try and reinstall a backup from a server that supposedly has a bug in it. Ill wait it out. Actually, I have no choice since I cant access the back up utility anyway due to this "bug".

They have erased hundreds of threads on this issue, and that is maybe the most cynical act I have ever seen by professionals such as forumotion. they only consolidated very few of them onto this thread.

I have restored our boards sucessfully as per the link a few pages back, however both of us Admins can no longer get into the Admin panel, even if we enter our url/admin anyone else experiancing this?

we have lost our entire forum, all the posts etc. when I try to access backup my email, ID and/or passowrds are not recognized or accepted? where is a contact email for forumotion admin?
can someone please help me resolve the issue of forumotion not recognizing my passwords? I used my original passowrd at forum creation and did not work used new passowrd did not work either. getting a little pissed about it all.

My board located at http://basstremfanatics.forumotion.net/ also says the same thing. I go to login, and it says "this forum has no posts". Well, that's not correct, because we in fact have almost 1,700 posts. I tried to use the utility link that was posted in another thread, and even that's not allowing me in.

could you possibly give us some insight into the issues rather than just the one post and link to forum back up? also could you investigate solutions to the problem of not being able to sign into back up function with our login ID's etc?
then could you get back to us with some information and possibly solutions?
transparency is a good thing - and I for one would feel a little less stressed if I had some understanding as to what is going on and the extent of the problems.
Im not sure I understand why forumotion admin is not updating us with more information and solutions other than just the one link that is not working for all sites.

Happening to me too. :< Nothing major is really occurring on my board, but I spend a whole week setting up the board and perfecting it. But It's been like this all day.

EDIT: I can access the administration panel just fine...I am the only admin on that site aside from the default one, so no one could have gone in and messed around with it. =/

anyway, i can see the recent topics but when i click the link it says
"Sorry, but only can read topics in this forum.", seems like the permissions were changed or something or the forum and its posts were hidden because I can still see the number of posts in my admin panel. The backup util didn't work for me either. :O

I had the same problem with my forums. Logged on an hour ago only to get the message "this forum has no forums"!!!

I've found that going into the admin panel and creating new sub forums restores all the postings and topics from each sub forum. For instance if your forum had 7 sub forums you will need to create 7 new sub forums to restore all the contents. Albeit on the index page of the forums it says that there is 0 topics and 0 posts. Try it for yourself, it should work for you to hopefully.

Ideally though, that backup utilty will be the best thing to do. However I too am finding that I can not log in to do this, even though I know I'm definitely using the correct password. So any help on this please?

This worked for me when the backup failed. All but one of my posts reappeared, but in the wrong forums. Still as my forum is pretty small it was a small matter to simply go and move the posts.

Talk about a WTF moment! I'm incredibly pissed off. I log on for the first time this week and all of my work is gone?!

I use a private forum to store posts ect. I'm the only one in control so there was no one screwing me over lol Really disappointed. i managed to do that back up but it seems like an "iffy" fix. I was already beginning to loose some love for this service with it's "blah" free board moderation ect.

Update: I did the restore and my threads are wiped AGAIN!

worked. but for the index page to show the correct number of topics and posts, you have to do this:
Admin Panel>General>Configuration>Misc Options*(at the bottom)>Check it to resynchronize>Save

this happened to me too. The back up did work but now the pm's are all go the wrong people and fromthe worng people.
Why is it only some sites. I belogn to another site and they don't seem to have the same problem

also it keeps telling me there is an error the url can not be retrieved.

Could we all get some assistance in restoring our forums please, spent a great deal of time creating this over the past week and a little annoyed to say the least to see everything having disappeared. I wouldn't of thought this would of been possible.

Could you please get information on whats caused the issue, a likely time when this is going to be fixed, and from that who we can get all our information back. - If that then doesn't work, what support can we get thereafter to make sure we get all of our forums back?

The lack of some sort of official response is certainly discouraging and just downright unprofessional. Seems to me like nobody is monitoring this issue and we're just sort of left to fend for ourselves. I'm reluctant to make any half assed attempts to rectify the situation out of fear of screwing up the possibility of forumotion admins (snicker) being able to clear this up later.

I work tech support and if there is ever an issue of this magnitude affecting so many users it becomes a priority and hourly status reports are sent to users in order to keep them in the loop. The last thing you want in this sort of situation is a hostile user base.

Get it together people, I like the service but this is leaving me with some serious questions about the competency of those in charge here.

I have two forums manage by forumotion and they're both down. I manage to restore the first forum by restoring the database but actually its unacceptable to happen even though its free hosting.

But the problem is I cannot login to my second forum utilities to restore the database.

I can accept the server is down for a day, but if the database is wipe out thats another case.
