New Chatbox

Dear members

For few months, we had many problems with our current Chatbox. Many of you complained about the chatbox, that is perfectly normal! That's why, our technicians decided to rework all the chatbox!

There is no big design change, just few improvements Wink

However, the code is not the same. It should solve all issues we had and you will enjoy chatting with your members chatbox - New Chatbox - Page 6 Whistle

Of course, the chatbox is still is under beta tests. So, we might have some bugs with the chatbox. It would be wonderful you could report those problems so that we can improve the chatbox as much as possible Very good

In addition, we have a new command /help so that you will know all the chatbox commands Wink

You just have to enter /help or click on the following button:
chatbox - New Chatbox - Page 6 Helpco10

Then, a popup will appear with an explanation of the commands. Those commands depend on your status and permissions on the forum:

After stabilization server load will be ok which will solve a lot of problems that you are currently experiencing.

Hello dear members

Here the improvement of bugs

Add

Remove the new color picker = solved
Add

Posts missing = solved
Add

Error in function write_msg(). Can not insert message = solved
Add

Chatbox empty = solved
Delete

Auto-refresh = in progress

Issues with archives = in progress
Delete

Buttons are too white so invisible = in progress

The color of the text is not the same as the color forum = in progress

The color of members is black by default, so if the chatbox background is back members aren't visible = in progress

After logging out, the drag bar looks same = solved

everyone made a complaint about it cause some "tech people" didnt think this thing would affect alot of people before making it public, they should have debug everything and to make sure it is working right but nooooooo they screwed up big time for everyone. We are not the Technicians and we are not in contact with them either. These responsibilities are for the Admin and Pro Admin. We only know what you know and what we were informed. All you need to do is be patient and these issues will be fixed asap. When this happens you will be informed.

OK but still tell those lazy admin and pro admin to go tell tell the technicians to hurry up and fix it or at least revert it to the old chat box for now while they try to fix the new chat box. I've waited patiently long enough and everyone else did. they shouldn't have done what they did and everyone else has to suffer cause of this situation that they have caused. At least let us have the old chat box so they can fix the new one and have it come out later in the year? Have the technicians realize the damage they have caused and if they also had realized it wasn't a great idea for them to hmm changed it without getting out all of the bugs first? Were they like " lets just put out the new chat box and piss everyone off just for lulz. It would be nice if they thought it over instead of screwing people up or hmm a notice a head of time would be nice and not trying to sneak and do things. It backfired on them and also you need the admin need to tell them that they are fired after the revert it back to the old chatbox. For advice please please please please give notice out in advance and also please try to get all of the bugs out before releasing change or products in the near future and also before trying to change anything give notice and that is very important and to avoid complaints, try testing and debugging it in the future Smile

It backfired on them and also you need the admin need to tell them that they are fired after the revert it back to the old chatbox.

Fired? What the...I'm starting to think you are really incompetent or that this is just a prank....seriously. How do you fire Volunteers?

@Fresh OG all of the Staff here in Forumotion and the technicians are human beings. They also have their personal lives and they cannot be here always 24/7 as we are only volunteers here. The Admin informed the Technicians about this and they are doing their best to fix these issues. This was working just fine when it was tested and none of these happened. All this happened due the technical problem of very significant scalability CPU of the servers. After you informed us about these issues they were informed and are now working so they can fix this. If you don't give them a chance to get things right how do you even know if the new chat is not better than the old one? All it needs is patience and when it's time we will be back to you with more information. Please all we ask from you is to be patient and wait for further information.

Wow, some people just can't comprehend... "the chatbox is still is under beta tests"

Have some patience you mooks. Nag about the old chatbox, then when they try and bring out a new one, complain again... Seriously... Just wait for it, if you can't then install a different chatbox elsewhere for the mean time. Stop crying and nagging like you're wearing panties 3 sizes too small for your "kitties". XD

To the forumotion staff, know that someone appreciates the work you guys have been putting into this. I applaud your patience and self-control in handling some of these people. Cheers! o/

Holy toledo! Bugs do not get fixed in the blink of an eye, if you do not like it disable the chatbox, go to bed and when you wake up MAYBE they will be fixed, there is no need to put un needed stress on the volunteer staff.

They can not fix it even if they wanted too, so please wait until Buttercup gets in but please do not take it out on the volunteers.

That is my plea, not intended to moderate anyone.

I have been waiting patiently long enough and so did everyone and my patient is running out. Second of all, if it was working fine and nothing happened, then why is there probelms then and why would no one was noticed before making change? i was thinking to tell everyone about this site was good but i was wrong. Next time you tell those technicians to wait a few months before changing it to the new chat box, Ok, that is all i wanted from you guys. revert it back to the old chat box till they get it fixed and that is simple enough to do. I made websites or even be a staff on sites like these and we fixed and let people know in advance when we were going to release something in the future and this site is proof of dumb people and disappointment like really? At least they should be fixing it right now cause they made a dumb decision to do it in the first place or revert to the old chat box for now and so they can fix the new chat box and figure it out the problem with it and re released the new chat box at a later and future date like in a few months or soo. Why can't they revert back to the old chat box for the time being?

I just want to ask what the ETA would roughly be before we see improvements on the chat?

Also i know a lot of the things have been said but i just wanted to comments to give a little feed back.

So here is what the members over at my forums have noticed.

-There is a lag time between their messages.

-Often the chat will only post what it wants from people for example you could say Hi, then post how are you. and it will only show "how are you"

-Another is that the archives do not work, they just refresh the chat(Sorta)

-it will randomly clear the chat and kick people from it as well.

-some people are unable to login

-other people cant even type at all in the chat.

I do understand you guys are working to get the chat back up and running, but in the mean time would it be possible to give us the option to switch back to the previous chatbox? I understand if doing so would be a slight hassle.

I agree with @SamanthaS this person has done nothing but spam and complain, and talk like the staff, Pro Admins and Technicians have nothing better to do.

I agree with you and these forumotion staff members don't even understand anything at all and after i asked them before they wont comprehend nothing, i think it is better for you to leave you site for a few months or whenever if it not fixed in a time frame is to forget about your forum and use chatango for the time being or a 3rd party chat box. My advice is use chatzy.com for your members to talk there and use the forum for posting something. btw i would like to join your forum. pm me please. I also asked them if they can just change it back to the old chatbox that can be less hassle while the fix the new chat box and get rid of the bugs

Evening/Morning/Afternoon, whatever the case may be for you. Just tossing in the few issues I've managed to fine; most of which fall under the common thread problems we've all been seeing.

1) Lagging
It is indeed fairly slow, comparable to when the you have 30+ members actively using it; even when empty.

2) Refresh Errors and Lack of Archives
Speaks for itself, really. No archive, and the archive link just causes the box to refresh itself. Otherwise, it's seeming to be a bit of a mixed bag on which forums actually auto-refresh, and which don't. I hauled about a half a dozen defunct/currently unused forums out of storage to check the effects of the different levels of coding and what not, and I can't really find a pattern to it. Even my dedicated test forum, with all it's broken headaches of mental pain is working pretty well, all thinks considered; however the one active forum I'm currently on (not one of mine, but run by a close friend that I offer support help for) has been having issues with the box breaking to where it's empty, or just a redirect link, etc, etc

3) Coding override
A few of the boxes I've checked had CSS coding adjustments to them, that have been overridden. Nothing major, just a few that now have cut off links due to base skin sizing that was force adjusted, and that isn't a big worry to staff at the moment.

Otherwise, we seem to be okay enough. By the looks of it, my sites and those that I frequent seem to be coming off far better than some. Luck of the draw, eh?

To the Techs: Thank you for your time, and thank you for trying to give us something better than the old chatbox. If, once the initial beta problems are resolved, this chatbox turns out to be far better than they old; then awesome. If not? Well, I'm just glad ya'll cared enough to try something.

To the Support staff: Bless you for your patience. Ya'll continue to earn my respect for managing to keep cool heads and professional demeanor when dealing with these crises.

So I already made my comment, however to just prepare myself in case these technicians take longer than expected, seeing as my forum HEAVILY RELIES ON THE CHAT BOX... http://www.unknownlandsrp.com/ I added a new Chatbox with another provider in the admin panel in Generalities on the homepage info box.

I'm hoping I will be able to display Chatbox Icons, Glows, as well as the images that were in my chatbox... as that is also tied on the CSS... and now it failed. (I don't know if that is because of the update, or because of Servimg, because I saw a problem with that too.)

Just adding on that this new cb revision does not work on ipods and phones. Tried logging on with chrome, explorer, and safari. None work. I do hope this all gets fixed as soon as possible. Thanks for your time.

Hello there. Uh, I have some problem to report here.
I've already logged in to the chatbox and I click the 'Archives' button. But the chatbox shows nothing before turning off the Archives mode.
