Solved Logging In Problem

Post by Pauline54 January 31st 2018, 3:03 pm

Technical Details

Forum version : #phpBB3
Position : Administrator
Concerned browser(s) : Mozilla Firefox
Who the problem concerns : Yourself
When the problem appeared : yesterday
Forum link : http://pspmaniacs.forumotion.com

Description of problem

Hi. I am the owner of my forum and up till yesterday it was ok. I cannot get in my forum by my original name and password. But I can get in by my other name Pauline but then I cannot access the Admin. panel at the bottom of the page or even see it. I was always logged in but yesterday it asked me to register again. I did but they said someone else already has that name and password. Duh, of course they do. It's me but it wouldn't let me in. Please help. And is there another way to keep logged in forever so I don't have to go through this again once I get in.

Solved Re: Logging In Problem

Post by brandon_g January 31st 2018, 5:57 pm

Hello,

Have you tried logging in with founder account details? If so, what happens you do? Do you get an error?

If you use the stay logged in feature (ticking the box that says either remmeber me or stay logged in) it will keep you logged in. Once a month our server does a cookie dump for security reasons and when this happens you will need to login again just one time, but other then that it will keep you logged in every time.

Hi Brandon and SLGray:
When I try loggin it keeps saying wrong or incorrect username or password. But I know it's not wrong cause that's the same one I used when I made my forum. I can get in my forum with my Pauline account but I can't do anything cause I need to make me(Pauline) admin. too but can't cause there is no admin. panel on bottom of page cause where Pauline is a member not admin.

When you created your forum did you register as Admin and password? or did you use a different name other than Pauline?

Also make sure your CAPS lock is not on , i had this issue recently when the keyboard light went out on it, it was driving me nuts..

PM @SLGray he should be able to reset your password in order to get you on.

You'll need to go Here to do it once the password has been reset.

Have you added any codes to your forum at any time in the last 24 to 48 hrs ?

If yes that maybe why you can not see the ACP.
Have you tried to use the >> Forum Utilities? you can log in that tool and pick to use direct connection that will let you get in your ACP so you can change anything you want.

Hi:
I did get in once today using my Admin account but don't remember how I did it. I couldn't log in. I notice the Register button is checked in my forum. I tried to uncheck it but it wouldn't work. The Loggin button isn't checked. Would that stop me from loggin in or not?

Have you tried using direct connection via the founder utities like Ape said before? You should be able to get in that way with the original foundation email and password.

It is actually not that difficult to use, you click on the link, put in the email address and password you used to make the forum and hit validate, once that is done, all you have to do is hit the direct connection button and it will take you straight to your admin panel where you can add your other account as administrator and even change the founder password if you wanted to. Smile

Hi Brandon:
I followed the steps there and backed up too and now my forum is gone back like it was when I first made the forum. And now I have all my posts gone too. How do I get it back. When I tried to get in my forum after doing what you said I was in as Pauline and not Admin. And no Amin panel on bottom page. It was like it was when I made it. I really screwed up this time.

You will need to do another backup with a date closer to today's date.

Try using the login information when you created the forum.

You did not need to do a backup, you simply had to go direct connection, change your founder password to something else and also added your pauline account to the admin panel. That really all you had to do. Back up in that situation is not needed.

As SLGray said if you do another back up to closest date possible in the utilities that should bring back the posts.

The posts are actually still there, the numbers on the homepage were just set back to 0 because of the backup, if you look at the actual sections, they are still there.

Like here is your rules thread: http://pspmaniacs.forumotion.com/t3-pspmaniacs-rules-plz-read-and-sign .

You just need to re sync the forum or bump the posts and the numbers should auto fix themselves.

To sync the forum, go to ACP (Admin panel)-->General-->Configuration-->All the way down at the bottom (last option) you will see re sync of the forum, just tick the box and hit save and it should fix the numbers on the homepage.
