Solved Founder Leaving-Posts.

Post by Derri Mon 21 May - 19:22

Well I ain't the founder of the site I am talking about but we have hit a problem.

Our founder may or may not want to leave at one point, however he was unaware that to leave and transfer founder status that the he would have to delete all his posts. Now at this point he has over 2000 posts. You can see the problem cant you? If needs to leave that's over a lot of threads with holes in it, A lot of posts missing and will cause A LOT of disruption on the forums.

Now surely in this rather good system you must have a way in which you don't have to delete all the posts or can move the posts to another account, I mean if you think about logically this should be something one has because a lot of people must get caught out with this.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The only way to keep the posts is by the founder giving a member the founder account information. The member will then be the founder of the forum. If the member changes the founder's username, the original founder's posts will show the new username.

Posts can not be transferred between accounts.

Hi,

To be honest, you DON'T need to delete the posts, just exchange of the passwords.
The reason for the deletion of posts is to ensure if there is any legal disputes of current ownership of the forum, that he cannot claim it, it it's just a hand over and not disappearance.

Because the code to enable that hasn't been made yet, were not even sure if it's even going to be coming in a future update.

You can simply change usernames, emails and passwords and bam the transfer is done.
