Forum data
Is there any way to get at least all users, posts, topics and categories? I would like to transfer them to my own forum in my server. I don't want to start everything from zero...

Re: Forum data
Not possible with a public forumotion converter which is posted on phpbb.com anymore since forumotion killed it.
There are people like Dion (from Dion Designs) who can transfer it but he does it for money, not for free.
Otherwise, you can't get backup

Re: Forum data
As far as I know, forumotion "owns" the database of the forum and you can't have it.
Any attempt to extract it is a punishable offense.
So I really want to known what those Dion guys do.
It's best to start fresh and as soon as possible. I recently moved on to phpbb forums myself (because we can't have the database here ).

Re: Forum data
Too late... I have a bunch of information to copy paste now. So, weird and time consuming. Actually, I don't understand the point to forbid it. That's not a big treasure of all those messages, and users to Forumotion. This is only thing I need...

Not really. TOS and LAW is not the same. It's against forumotion tos, but it's not against the law. Hence, Forumotion can't start litigation even if I get a database with 100k+ members.
I keep the database of my punbb.biz forum in my pc just in case if I someday want to switch on some other platform.
Dion is registered here, just try to find his username. I think price depends on the size of forums, but maybe there are some people on phpbb.com which could do it for free idk.

Perhaps you should give this a read.

These aren't TOS as far as I can tell.

The fact of not respecting these rights are by the law punished by up to two years of imprisonment and a fine of 150.000€
In the same way, groups can be declared responsible for these infringements penally.
These aren't TOS as far as I can tell.
Re: Forum data
Hello,
Rhino is right, Forumotion does not give out the database of any forum it hosts to anyone. As the tutorial Rhino linked you to above explains, Forumotion owns the database all forumotion forums are on and there are laws that make illegal to obtain the database of your forum unless forumotion itself were to give it to you itself, which it will not. That said, really one of the only LEGAL ways to transfer data from your forum to a different forum or forum host, is by manually re-posting and re-adding all the content of your forum by hand to the new forum or forum host.

Re: Forum data
That doesn't apply if you are outside of France and/or EU. They can't sue you, because your country doesn't represent the same law as France does.
On another side, thousand of people did that, yet none were sued, because forumotion can't know if someone got database by Convertor crawler. But yes, by forumotion it is illegal to get such data, i don't know why is that.

When you create your forum, you agree to follow all laws (including French law and international law) that govern the forum.Shadow. wrote:That doesn't apply if you are outside of France and/or EU. They can't sue you, because your country doesn't represent the same law as France does.

To Everyone: Do not post about transferring your database in anyway because it is not allowed. Do not post links to tutorials or post about members who talk about it.
