SSL certificate problem
Hi
Today my SSL certificate expired and I couldn't log in to my own forum, as the forum owner, to purchase a new certificate. I got these warnings:
That's a really nice message for members and guests to see isn't it?
There was even a message saying hackers may be attempting to access the site to steal people's information!
That really makes people want to come back again doesn't it?
Anyway, I have managed to get in via Google Chrome, but now it won't let me purchase a new certificate.
In fact I've got a message saying that my certificate is still valid for another 107 days even though it's expired!
It's not even possible to buy a new certificate in advance until the existing one has expired - yet as soon as it expires I can't log in to buy a new one anyway!
Am I upset about this? You bet I am!
So, my question is - how do I now log in to buy a new certificate?
I wish I'd never bothered buying this SSL certificate in the first place.

Re: SSL certificate problem
I have another admin who can access the admin panel, but only the founder (me) can access the Misc section to buy the certificate.
Usually there are over 200 members online around now, but there's only 50 people online - I wouldn't be surprised if people won't touch my forum with a bargepole after this. Why would they want to come back after the messages they will have seen about hackers potentially stealing their information?
Surely Forumotion can make it possible to buy a new certificate a week in advance to prevent this problem?

Re: SSL certificate problem
I have just received that message also when trying to log into my forum this morning. I am the admin, and I have absolute certainty that the SSL certificate does not expire until May 2018 (and was able to verify this in the Admin panel once I logged in) - yet the notice I got is saying it has expired.
I managed to get in to the forum only by clicking on 'Exception' and following the instructions there.
However, now the search bar shows a yellow triangle next to the green padlock and when you click into it, it says the connection is not secure - even though it's showing the https prefix!
It's all a bit worrying .....

Re: SSL certificate problem
Hello,
Report has been made, now all that is left is to wait for head office to view and fix it. We apologize for the inconvenience and I hope this will be fixed soon.
P.s Guys as a temporary solution, try switching your forum back to http until they have fixed this problem, this might allow the warning to dis appear and allow smoother connection to the site.

Re: SSL certificate problem
Hello i have tested All your forums and yes you do all have a problem other then one i tested @skouliki i don't see a problem on yours.
I tested my site to with No problems my sites Address don't run out until ( 18 Feb 2018.)
Re: SSL certificate problem
I've checked my records and my certificate shouldn't run out until 17th March 2018 so I have no idea what's going on. I don't know why I'm getting a message saying it's expired. But these warning messages of hackers stealing info is very damaging for my forum.
Forumotion needs to sort this out asap and ensure it never happens again.

My forum https://lightafterlife.forumotion.com/ is one of those affected (as per my post above).
I am also admin of 2 other Forumotion forums, both of which also have a valid SSL certificate
https://krazykats.forumotion.co.uk/
https://forumcafe.forumotion.co.uk/
- and neither of those have been affected.
Note their urls end in forumotion.co.uk
whereas the affected one ends in forumotion.com
Could that be a clue? It's the only difference I can think of.
