Does Windows 10 mess with Forum settings
Back in February 2018 I asked this question.
https://help.forumotion.com/t155128-does-windows10-mess-with-my-forum
The only way I could fix the problem was do a reinstall of the Windows 10.
Well to cut a long story short it did it again about 2 years ago but I just left it as is.
it has done the same thing again and I can't even see smileys or the menu bar for this post on this page so I cant' download a pic to show what I can't see.
If I use my laptop which is Windows 8.1 there isn't a problem.
There has a be a problem somewhere but it has me stumped.
Any and all suggestions are welcome
Cheers

For Windows 10
Sometimes websites don't look like you expect them to—images might not appear, menus might be out of place, and text could be jumbled together. This might be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site you're on. Sometimes this can be fixed by adding the site to your Compatibility View list.
To add a site to the Compatibility View list
Open Internet Explorer, select the Tools button , and then select Compatibility View settings.
Under Add this website, enter the URL of the site you want to add to the list, and then select Add.
Note: If you add a site to the Compatibility View list and the page looks worse, the problem might not be compatibility and you should remove the site from the list.
Once you turn on Compatibility View, Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by removing the site from your compatibility list. Not all website display problems are caused by browser incompatibility. Interrupted Internet connections, heavy traffic, or problems with the website can also affect how a page is displayed
Re: Does Windows 10 mess with Forum settings
I have 4 browsers installed. Microsoft Edge, IE, Chrome and Firefox.
I only use Chrome or Firefox but the problem occurs in all 4 Browsers.
I've just spent a few hours clearing cache and history and cookies but the problem is still there.
Currently using Firefox and I still cannot see the menu bar or smileys for this post.

Re: Does Windows 10 mess with Forum settings
try the solution i posted above
also you can try these solutions
- disable the browser extensions .... chrome https://www.alphr.com/how-to-disable-extensions-in-chrome/
- turn off your antivirus to check it
can you post your forum link please
to be honest, we can not do much since this is not a forumotion issue,we can only give you advice or some general solutions
you can go to a service store to get a professional look if you still have issues

Re: Does Windows 10 mess with Forum settings
ok your forum seems ok no errors and i can view all pages fine
since with your laptop, everything is ok and after reading your previous thread the issue comes definitely from windows 10
you can reset the windows as you did before or check maybe there is a window10 update
In October 2021 users of windows 10 had posted 17 different problems they had using them so i suggest you visit your local service store
I am sorry but as i said before this is not a forumotion issue
note : i use Windows 10 Home and i have never experienced any issue with any browser

Re: Does Windows 10 mess with Forum settings
Hi I think I can help here.
Windows 10 has had a problem some years back when it first come out. Microsoft fixed the problems listed about 2 months after they come to light.
Can you tell me what windows 10 you have please.
To find out what windows 10 you have please do the following.
In the search bar type in winver and press enter
Take a screen shot of the little window that pops up and post it here.
It sounds to me you have a older windows 10 and maybe your updates have not installed right.

Re: Does Windows 10 mess with Forum settings
I have used Windows 10 on both my laptops and never had an issue. I can't think of any setting in Windows that would cause this, and I am pretty familiar with them.
A way to figure out if its truly a problem with your Windows, try booting your pc in Safe Mode with Networking and see if the problem occurs.

Hi, I use Windows 10 PC and laptop and I have no problem with the forum images, so it must be configuration of your PC.

I also use Windows 10 and never seen this issue. I do agree with APE that it sounds like your version might not be updated.
