Give mods the right to edit members signatures ??
should mods have the right to edit members signature's
Hi all just a little some thing i have looked over and found would be good to have on the site.
Right now the only way to edit a members signature is the member them self or a admin of the site with ACP rights.
i am asking you all to support me on having a place on the mods tools where the Mods can edit the signature's
this will help the staff when some one puts porn or some other thing in the signature that should not be there
This is a screen shot of a MCP that is on MyBB forum
as you can see you can stop the member from using the sig or just edit it
Screen shot Lost SORRY
right now the admins are the only ones that can do this ..
come on guys lets get this added to the site.

Its okay, but not the best Ideal I Heard. The best one is the Proper Warning System.

I have voted yes. This idea seems reasonable and it would definitely be less hassle for the admins if moderators can do this.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
I voted Yes, with being an Admin to a forum myself, it's a hassle stopping what you're doing and going through the ACP to change a Member's signiture if it violates the rules. If mods were to do this, Admins could get done with what they need to get done faster and not have to deal with setbacks like these.
Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
Voted yes but I would modify a little detail...
It would be nice that Mods could turn off members signatures, but not edit them...
I will explain myself:
In that cases you spoke about (users wich uses signature to post porn images and so), it would be nice that Mods could turn off the users signature, I mean, desactivate that signature, but not edit it.
Because, if you say edit, you mean that Mods can enter into the user signature and modify the content...
I would like Mods could desactivate signatures, but not edit its content.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
I would say yes,
But only if there is a real reason to.
like if it was to big or had a link in it you dint want in there and was not allowed on the forum.
Other then that signatures are supposed to be the members personal expression or something to share with every post, so you have to give them some flexibility to have something that fits them and shows their personality or things their interest..If you were to take that away, then my's well not even allow members to have them., so yes if there was realy something that had to be changed ,edited out, or Spammy, other then that there would be no reason to.

Yes that could be in the settings for the admin to put on or off if you wished.invisible_fa wrote:Voted yes but I would modify a little detail...

Why i say edit is down to not all the signatures could have bad text, pic's or other so to edit and place a warning for bad stuff in there sig would be ok.
there would have to be a reason for mods to edit the text in the 1st place and i would ask the mods to take a screen shot of the signatures before it was removed so the member can not say it was not true. or maybe add a report in there profiles in the comment part, you cold also have the right to let just one group of mods have the settingskirk wrote:I would say yes,

~yes
There should be a special pick from the moderators though.
EDIT: I noticed two people voted for no. It wouldn't hurt to have this option, and if someone didn't want it, the administrators could simply check no for having it.

Voted Yes. I have had this issue on my forum with curse words (On a non-cursing forum) yet I was on holiday, and I was the only admin. So it remained until I returned, and the moderators could not edit it.

There would be an option for admins to stop mods using it and to have a group setting aswell so maybe you can set it just to Global Moderators only or what ever you want.

most forums have this for removing links, pic's, porn, flashing img's, and even curse words as kamikay has already said.kamikay wrote:Voted Yes. you can get mods to edit the posts and threads so why not have them edit members sigs if there is a problem that needs to be fixed

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
I voted yes.
If they are my moderators, I have already the trust placed in them to do things right. So I'd say yes, yet I find invisible_fa's suggestion excellent.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
BUMP as this has not been bumped in so long
Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
This is needed. Good idea. Mods don't have much power with regards to dealing directly with members (besides banning them).
Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
Yes, but only if it was specific to certain usergroups.
