Give mods the right to edit members signatures ??
should mods have the right to edit members signature's
First topic message reminder :
Hi all just a little some thing i have looked over and found would be good to have on the site.
Right now the only way to edit a members signature is the member them self or a admin of the site with ACP rights.
i am asking you all to support me on having a place on the mods tools where the Mods can edit the signature's
this will help the staff when some one puts porn or some other thing in the signature that should not be there
This is a screen shot of a MCP that is on MyBB forum
as you can see you can stop the member from using the sig or just edit it
Screen shot Lost SORRY
right now the admins are the only ones that can do this ..
come on guys lets get this added to the site.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
im voting no because it should be only the member that can edit their own signatures and if the mods have
a problem they can tell the member to change it

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
And what if the member is breaking the rules @Judai Yuki? Moderators are there fr a reason, to enforce the rules and make sure they are not being obused. If an admin is not present and the member is either purposefully or not purposefully breaking the rules withthe signature, the moderator should be able to change it.
If someone posts something that breaks the rules of the forum, a moderator is not likely going to ask the member to remove the post. They have a job for a reason to protect the community, so if someone makes a post that breaks the rules, they can either move the topic so members cannot see it or delete it.
Same thing goes with signatures, let's say no admins are present and a member wanted to cause harm and broke the rules with a signature that was inappropriate/breaking the rules, member's can see the signature and the moderators cannot do anything to help resolve the issue.

Yes as said here.
some members add things to there Sigs and there is a link that will mess up your forum or stop the posts from getting seen (hell i have seen it happen) then if a admin is not about but a mod is they can't do nothing about it and then your site looks bad or even becomes less used as this siggy is messing your site up so the Plan would be to have other staff edit this if needed you can even do it so only some staff can do it if you wanted and you pick who has the tool's
Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
I agree with all said above, I believe mods should 100% be able to edit signatures and am surprised they can not already (or atleast that there is not an option to). What if an admin is not around or is on leave or something and that admin left a mod in charge and a member posts something that either should not be displayed in a sig or even something that may break our TOS (Nudity, slanderous stuff, links to porno sites, images that are derogatory, etc), now that mod is responsible for ensuring the forum remains in compliance with the TOS, yet they are powerless to do much of anything to the person whose signature it is other then tell them to remove the content and hope they comply.
Not everyone is going to comply and follow the rules or do as asked the first time, if that were the case there would not be much need for mods at all (mind you I said 'much' obviously they would still be needed to keep areas clean and organized, etc).
I have already voted yes to this and I believe it should be implemented at the earliest possibility.

Thank you @Brandon_g for your input on this
I also think the Avatar system should be added to this as well so staff can remove that if needed

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
You could also create a hidden group that does not have permission to use signatures. Then all you have to do is add the members who are breaking the rules.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
I 100% disagree to this. It should be up to the member what he/she has on their signature unless it is something not supposed to be on the site then the Admins would be called to duty and remove that Users signatures. Mod In my opinion should Not be given any power to meddle with the Signatures in any way shape or form.
Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
Just editing the signatures will not stop the members from adding things back to their signatures.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
Thats why admins can turn members signatures off within the administration panel ._.SLGray wrote:Just editing the signatures will not stop the members from adding things back to their signatures.

So your saying that if i made a account on your forum and added content like porn or sex pic's on it then your be fine with that and say you are not about for say a week and your other admin's was not about you risk your forum getting closed down for something that is in one of your members signature and a mod can't remove it as there is no tool to do so.
yes members have the right to add anything they like but rules don't always get followed.
and admins cant always be around 24 /7 so to have a set of staff members you trust help you do that as mods would make your forum much more better.
you can then even ask your staff to take a screen shot of the signature before they edit it so you have proof.
Anyway thank you for your Vote of NO its good to see what other members think about this.
and you would have the choice to have it on or off to any staff member you wanted so you Don't have to have it if you don't want it

Yes but only if the admins allow it, so that it can be toggled on/off by admins.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
I voted "yes".
I think it would help out if moderators have the ability to do this as well. If someone has a signature that violates the rules in some form or fashion, then the moderators will be able to remove it immediately and you don't have to wait for an admin to get online. For example, if someone adds something to their signature area that's offensive to others then it could be taken down a lot faster.

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
I say yes to this. But I would recommend that you can set it so only specific usergroups can do this. Not all Moderators because some forums have random moderators for maybe like 1 forum and not want them to be able to remove signatures. Something like that where even here on the Support Forum you could set it so that Admins, Managers, and Support Mods can change it but the Reviewers and Designers can't. Something like that. (Not saying it needs to be set that way, no offense to the reviewers or designers. Please don't kill me.)
But that is just my opinion but I did vote yes!
Cheers,
James

Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
Thank you for your vote and yes there would be a setting so you would pick the member of staff by name not by Group or ot could be set like that as i wanted it to be set for Globe mods.
Re: should mods have the right to edit members signature's
Voted yes~ Although admins and mods can ask a user to change their signature if it's inappropriate or is against TOS, not all users will do so. And banning a user solely because of their signature seems too extreme, so allowing staff to change signatures if needed seems like the best solution. Plus, giving mods this kind of power will help ease the workload on admins
